I place the blame squarely on Trump.  Now I like what he did when he was President, but his ego oftentimes tripped him up and gave the ammunition to the Democrats/MSM to use against anyone that showed any allegiance to him.  This along with his reliance on idiots like Rudy, the Craken lady and other crackpots looking for their 15 minutes of fame makes him toxic. He is going to make an announcement next week, I for one will not support him, and if he runs in 24, even against Corrupt Joe, I will not vote for him or Joe.  Btw, I expect Biden to be emboldened to stay his disastrous course particularly if the Democrats keep the Senate.

Along with that, it appears election deniers took a major hit.  Heck look at Stacey Abrams results along with all the other GOP candidates that bended the knee to Trump’s ego.  Now I am not saying there were not questionable issues with 2020, but the better strategy would have been to take the high road, but of course that is water under the bridge.

Lastly, look at the performance of those that did not rely on Trump, DeSantis, DeWine, Abbott, Kemp.  One can fight the media, and provide common sense conservative policies and win big.

Agree 100%. Except if he is in a head to head fight with Biden I will vote for him. I hope Ron becomes the Defacto face of our Party now

I am curious of the Dem strategy as well.  They will eventually run out of gas with their Jan 6, loss of Democracy mantra, but it appears that Trump is going to make his announcement soon, so I expect a lot of talking points coming out from the Left.

I love Trump, but after the night he had, announcing next week is too soon.  Wait until Laxalt and Walker secure two senate seats (if they do secure them in the  end).  If Lake wins, it is icing on the cake. If Masters wins (slim chance but it comes down to Lake’s coat tails) then his case for running is a slam dunk.

These 4 contests might not be resolved until July.  July 4th is always a great day to announce a run.

I do wish DeSantis and Trump could find a way to work together.

Everyone feeling similarly, please read this whole thing, think, and comment.

The Establishment Is Trying to Divide and Conquer MAGA

[...] I know that the months ahead will make for some spirited political debate among friends, but I encourage you to cement in your minds this quintessential image of Trump unbroken and unbowed.  Whatever else can be said about the man (and there is plenty), he remains the only leader in our times unafraid to stand alone.  When other self-proclaimed allies run the other way or look for somewhere safe to weather the approaching storm, Trump stands inside the tempest, demanding that it give up and surrender.  That's something that will forever separate him from those who pretend to be him.  [...]

Just too much Trump worship in that article for me.

I don't like Trump.  I will never like Trump.  In my opinion, Trump cares only about Trump.  He was President, he did a good job but he was incredibly divisive and, for all the good he did, he caused just as many unnecessary problems.  I voted for him once, but I don't want to be put in that position again.

I think there are other people out there who can do just as good of a job without embarrassing the office.

Here's the question I have:  If DeSantis and Trump both run, I'm sure DeSantis would support Trump if he was chosen as the nominee.  Would Trump support DeSantis if he were the nominee?  Honestly, I have no confidence that Trump would support anybody else except himself.

Trump has already started:

On the day of the 2022 general election, Donald Trump sent a very clear 2024 message to Ron DeSantis: Stay out of the race or else.

“I would tell you things about him that won’t be very flattering – I know more about him than anybody – other than, perhaps, his wife,” Trump said

New Hope Arises in Arizona for Republicans After Ballot Update

[...] New numbers coming out of Arizona are not only showing the races there tightening but GOP gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake is likely favored to win over Democrat Katie Hobbs.  Blake Masters, who is running for senate, also now has a clear, though, more difficult path to beat Democrat Mark Kelly.  [...]

I'm with you!  I don't think Tim is ready for the presidency but I would love to see him as VP to DeSantis!

Pick your two:

Tom Cotton, Ted Cruz, Ron DeSantis, Nikki Haley, Rand Paul, Marco Rubio, or Tim Scott.  I'd even consider Chris Christie, Dan Crenshaw, Mike Pence, or Mike Pompeo.

There are a lot of good, intelligent people who are qualified to be President who wouldn't embarrass us on a daily basis and aren't about to turn 80.  There are even some on the Democratic side that fit that description.
