It boggles the (rational) mind how these people were able to gain their positions thru a stolen election.

The American people are week sheep, and only a revolution will change the fate of our country.  (Not my words, but I no longer scoff at them as I did a few years ago.  Now I believe it is true.)

I have always wondered but not to the extent of looking into this why it takes so long.

 

I know that in most countries it does not. Brazil is a pretty big country and they seemed to do it ok.

 

OK the UK has one time zone, but that does not make much difference, no doubt the process has changed by now but last time I voted it was paper, checked you in gave you the ballot you popped into a little screened off area put a big x on your choice and then into a metal locked box. When the Polls closed send to a central counting area.

 

The TV cameras would be there for the more relevant constituencies, and there was always a few that raced to see if they could be first to declare, I think the record is about an hour.

 

So normally there would be enough results in by late evening, I can remember one going into the early hours, but you would wake up to the majority of constituencies declared. Yes there would a few that took longer if there needed to be a recount, or the Highlands of Scotland where transportation took longer.

 

Now we have Computers, if Amazon can do same day or next day delivery why is this such a pain?

There's no excuse.  The sole reason for no improvement is so that votes can be "found" to magically change initially undesirable results.

Well I checked my failing memory, now Sunderland tends to be first, they have 3 to count, polls close at 10 pm and they declare the result the same day as do others. A combination of polls of those exiting and early results tend to confirm the overall picture. 

 

Let us say they did not want to count that evening, can not think of why all the boxes could not be delivered and ready to go say 8am the following morning and you could count them several times in one day.

 

With a computer system should be available immediately the polling stations close.

A software update, at night, during the counting process, has been proven to have a DRAMATIC effect on the outcome.
