Visiting on ESTA with weaker ties to home with I-130 pending

Hi All,

I have a long notice period in my current employment and in addition I'm not very happy in my job right now.  Knowing that I will be leaving at some point isn't helping with the frustrations I'm feeling.  The stress and pressure are becoming too much, especially alongside the visa process.  If I wasn't in the visa process I would have resigned by now. In addition, beginning to serve out my long notice sooner will help with flexibility when the time actually does come.

We've only recently filed, so we have a long journey ahead of us, and I've not yet travelled to visit my husband (I'm an ESTA holder) since our wedding but I have a trip planned next month.  After this trip I am considering resigning and taking on some interim work while we wait for the I-130 approval.

I know that this weakens my ties to my home country, in addition I don't currently own a property.  If I choose to take the route above, what other documents could I provide to strengthen my ties again and reduce the risk of me being denied entry?  I enter via MSP airport, and on my last visit (for my wedding) I was taken for additional questioning.

I know there are no guarantees even with strong ties, but I'd like to hear others experiences before I make my decision.

Thanks in advance

How did you handle it last time you entered?  How long ago was this?

Hi Crazy Cat.

Last time was in August.  I took a copy of my lease and I had a letter from work.  It was the letter from work that seemed to do the trick.  I can still get these while I'm serving notice, just not sure if I'm doing some interim work.
