Hi everyone, Is it easy to book an interview appointment after passing the medical examination? How long did you wait before you got interviewed? May I ask when was your flight to US? My mom passed her medical exam and Saint Luke's extension clinic told her that she should be here in the US by Jan 13, 2023 or she will have to re take her physical examination. I am wondering if it's okay to wait for my dad's physical examination to finish and have them both take the interview appointment at the same time. My dad's immunization date is on November 16.

Greetings!

Is this that what they are doing now? I thought immigrant visa interview appointment was assigned by NVC? is this something new? My mother' s medical and visa interview way before was selected by NVC. (But I guess she had her medical done two days ahead as it was allowed back then, not sure if there are changes.

@nelmagriffin, they have first assigned an interview appointment but my parents had to take sputum test so their interview appointment were canceled. My mom now just passed her medical exam and I'll have to make an appointment for her interview.

Hi - I think it varies. I know someone in the family took one month to get a visa interview schedule post sputum test. The schedule was one month out. So total of 2 months. Add, the visa delivery from LBC and CFO, all in all it was cutting it close to the 3 months expiration of the medical. This was back in Mar-22. Last August, another family member was able to get a schedule in 4 days after passing sputum test and the schedule was also one month out. I have heard some could get a 221g (request for additional docs) which could extend the visa issuance. Since, we never know how all the timing is going to work, it looks like scheduling right away is the way to go. Just my opinion.

It's ok to wait for your dad to clear his own medical exam and have them interview together as long as you are confident that your mom will have enough time to complete the interview, get her visa, get her CFO certificate, and travel to the US by Jan 13th.  That medical expiry date is fixed.  Your mom really will need to repeat the medical (and possibly the sputum test as well) if she does not enter the US by the deadline date communicated by SLEC.  If you do not want to risk your mom running out of time before the medical expires, best to get her the earliest interview date and have her interview (and possibly travel to the US) ahead of your dad.  Up to you and your family to weigh the risks.

Hi. My mom passed her medical exam last October 17 and I called the US immigration to get an interview appointment but no slots available. Saint Luke's extension clinic told her that she will need to be in the US by Jan. 13, 2023. I let the immigration know that her medical exam has expiration and that she will need to have an appointment.  They only told me to keep checking on the slots online or call them. I am worried her medical exam will expire before she gets interviewed or come to the US.

It's a little work, but checking it every so often online will probably give you a better chance of success. With the holidays coming, slots could fill up fast because Embassy staff could possibly ask for time off during those periods.

Hope you can find her a spot.
