I just got off the phone with NVC tonight, I about dropped the phone when the gentleman asked me verifiers ....so ummm yea ....sweet........ they got the case on Monday and its already left for Moscow on Wed. Looks like interview will be mid to end Sept, ironically that will exactly be one year from when we last saw each other in Hungary. Looks like I'm done with the K1 thread now.

Tax transcripts -- anyone have experience on how long it takes to get them? I faxed a request in June and haven't gotten anything. I also followed that up with a mail out just this week.

If I remember correctly I just called the 800 number... it's all free...

You have two easy and convenient options for getting copies of your federal tax return information--tax return transcripts and tax account transcripts--by phone or by mail.

Request transcripts by calling 1-800-829-1040, or order by mail using IRS Form 4506T (Request for Transcript of Tax Return). We do not charge a fee for transcripts. Allow two weeks for delivery.

The schedule is posted through Sept 12th on the Moscow Embassy website so my guess is end of Sept might be about the best you can hope for but anything can happen.

For us it was a pain going through the interview process and preparing for it, best of luck to you.

For the taxes, just call the 800 number and have them fax you the reports, it is free and you will have it within 3 days, usually the same day.

Good luck,

Mike.

My wife's interview date was posted "back" in the dates. They were updated until a certain time, then a few weeks later, hers was "inserted" back a few weeks earlier. So, don't count yourself out of a certain time period just yet. Not saying it's going to happen, but it's possible.

Slim, I think you are right that it is possible to get an interview date sooner than usual but I think it will only be in cases where it suits them such as when they have had several cancellations.

I have never ever heard of anyone asking for a quicker date and getting it and that includes being 8+ months pregnant or leaving for active duty. You always have to remember what our founding fathers said about it being a goverment by the government for the government. People don't count for much unless you happen to get in the headlines. Peoples, enough to effect an election, yes they get an ear.

They tell you to use the search feature to look for your number. I never found that to work very well. Actually we found ours up there after search said it was not there. Look through the numbers as well.

Your days will come!

Turboguy, you're probably right about them "backfilling" the cancellations. They're definitely not doing it for convenience of petitioners or beneficiaries. I've also never heard of an interview date being pushed up for any reason.

Our interview date was delayed several months at our request. My wife and I (mostly the I part) lead the world in procrastination so when they did update it and we were on there, we weren't all the way ready. We requested an extra month or two, and got pushed back until the next available date which was like six weeks later or something like that. I've never heard of them hastening along an interview date, but I can confirm that it's possible to delay it.

I am a little concerned about us being ready. We have less time than I would like after she gets back from Barbados and Grenada three weeks from now. The police report is the one that worries me most along with my 2006 taxes that I sent to the Accountant in March and am still waiting for.

We are going to have 24 days to get the police report and I think that will take a bit of luck. It may just make it or it may just miss but if that is the only hold up we will do the interview and deal with the 221-G for the police report later. We should be ok on everything else but will have to hustle a bit.

Would it be possible for her mother or another trusted person there to request it on her behalf, now? I don't know if they'll do that, but I'd assume that if someone went in to the office, requested a police report, paid the applicable fee, then it would be ready for your sweety to pick up when she got there.

My wife's police report took about three weeks (Khabarovsk Krai) but she didn't pay any applicable fees.

As long as she requests it right away, she should be OK with 24 days. Like you said, either way, no big deal because she can submit it later. Even if it takes longer, shouldn't be more than a week or two. You guys are no strangers to delays anyway! :clock:

I believe you have to show your passport when you request it Slim so she is going to have to do it. I think there is a good chance it will come through in time but if not we will just deal with it.

We had a problem as well with the packet from Moscow. The delivery people were not going to deliver it because she was not there to sign for it. The first attempt they said no, they would make one more try to deliver and then return it to Moscow. The second attemt my future MIL talked them into leaving it and they agreed only because her name is the same as her daughters. Hum, Maybe I will go to meet my fiancee at the airport and my MIL will be there instead. :help:
