Hi VJ

I'm currently waiting for an interview for my F2B and I'm trying to prepare as much as possible.

I have a 3 year old son who will not be immigrating with me at this time. I am thinking it would be wise to go with some sort of consent letter/affidavit from my son's mother stating that she is aware I will be immigrating and our son may follow to join.  Would this be recommended or unnecessary?

On the same breathe, i am anticipating  the CO may ask where I will be leaving the child since i indicated on the DS260 form that i am currently staying with him. We decided all of us should move in together when she was expectant so obviously I will be leaving him with his mother. Just thinking/overthinking :), should I be concerned that the CO may interpret staying together with the mother of my son as a marriage?

Thanks for your thoughts.

Does Kenya require mothers to consent to fathers leaving the country? I’m not understanding the purpose of the consent  letter or what purpose it will have.

Sounds like a huge amount of overthinking.
Are you married? No, then you’re eligible.

Are you bringing your son as a derivative? No, then you don’t need permission from the other parent for anything.
Will your son follow you at some stage? Yes, then worry about what’s necessary at the time.

It’s 2022 in Kenya too, right?

Also i don’t know others thinking on this, but please don’t tag me in posts, I would have answered this regardless. If it was a post I didn’t know how to or didn’t want to answer, then tagging is just annoying.

Got it. Just anxious and overly thinking I guess. Thank you.
