Hello,

i recently had a baby, and my husband is in a different country awaiting his approval for the I130. I want to apply for a passport for my child, but how do I do so if his father is not in the US? It says to file a form and have it notarized but can it be notarized by anyone who holds that title or it has to be a U.S. embassy? My husband is in Morocco. If anyone has gone through this, I would kindly appreciate the help. Thank you!

Does he have to go to Casablanca or can he get it notarized by someone in his city who is a notary? The appointments at the casablanca embassy are crucial and take so long

thanks!

Your best bet is to email (I provided the address earlier) and ask if they would accept notarized form from Moroccan notary (Morocco is part of Hague apostille convention so you'd have to get that type of notarization done on the paper from the father). Then proceed as they tell you.

I appreciate your help. Thank you! So turns out he has to go to the Casablanca consulate. By the way quick question I’m filing the ds3053 right now and it’s asking for the address of my husband but it has it as writing the street address, city, state and zip code. How do I fill it out regarding a Moroccan address? Do I put Morocco in the state section?
