My wife filed my case under I-130 category on Aug - 2021 as a petitioner. On July 15, 2022 I received msg from USCIS that your application is approved and your application has been moved to NVC department. After words I submitted my all relevant documents requested by NVC on Aug 04, 2022. Fortunately on Oct 3, 2022 I received msg from NVC that your documents are qualified. Also I have received the msg from NVC which stated that

NVC will work with the U.S. Embassy/Consulate General in ISLAMABAD, PKST to schedule an interview appointment for you. Once we have confirmed an interview date, we will send a notice to you, your petitioner and attorney (if applicable). ""

I have a 3 year old son who lives with his mommy at Houston, USA. Its being very difficult for her to perform all the activities lonely which includes Job (08:00 - 17:00) , time for her child, home errands etc. Its been seriously very difficult.

I really want to know the approximate time taking by Islamabad, Pakistan consulate for scheduling the interview date for IR-1 category.

Regards

Sajid Shafi

I seem to remember ISL being severely backlogged with cases.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

I believe the backlog is about a year, especially when including the mandatory background checks.

You could email the embassy and explain the situation with your son.  They may be able to get you an earlier interview date.  It will not hurt to ask.

Not to burst your bubble but adding another person to a household (even an adult) adds to the work of a housewife/ now she would have to cook for u ,  wash your clothes and clean  up for u

and if u got a job,  still someone else has to care for the child while u both work

personally i was married while in college / my twins were born in my junior year the day before thanksgiving and i returned to college Monday full time

it isn't easy but we do it

and many do it without a spouse as seen by the stats below

“Almost a quarter of U.S. children under the age of 18 live with one parent and no other adults (23%), more than three times the share of children around the world who do so (7%) …Mar 21, 2022

what SteveinbostonI130 is telling u is that you probably will face long AP for the extra security checks (normal for Pakistan)  after the interview so your wait time may be extensive

having a child is not a good reason for expedite a visa

sorry  this may be hard to hear but I really do wish u both a visa approval and a happy family life

Please do a timeline on your profile

Currently around 15 months from NVC DQ date to interview letter.  Check the thread below for updates from others also waiting for an interview slot at ISL --
