So I just got DQed and want to get all the docs I need for the interview, but I read somewhere on the guyana consulte review page that some insane docs are needed at the interview, for example. My parents and spouses parents birth and marriage certificates as well as divorce decrees. Not just mine but my parents, is this actually true? My parents are from israel and I dont know how they can possibly go get those in the less than 2 months till the interview.

Also when they say they want a recent police certificate, it took like 3 months to get the canadian police certificate, do I already need to apply for a new one if we never traveled back there and the interview is sometime in december or january? it was issued on March 24th.

Last thing, when they say they want recent original birth certificates, does that mean I can't bring my actual original birth certificate or do I have to go and apply for a new birth certificate that is issued recently?

Thanks,

Any help is much appreciated.

Here is a pic of the thing I'm talking about

The consulate will advise you what documents are required. You must take the originals of all documents which were uploaded during the NVC stage. The ones taken to the interview will be the ones you scanned and then uploaded.  Each visa category has its own specific list.. you cant go on what someone else “suggests”   Save your reaction for the correct list that comes to the beneficiary from the Consulate

I understand but it is normal for parents marriage and birth certificates to be required at the interview? thats all I'm asking, I just want to be prepared since it might take some time to get a birth certificate from Jerusalem. Id rather get it now than wait and only have a couple weeks since they also need to send that form to another country twice for me to have it.

As I stated. Read thevrespurces from the Consulate .. not someones generic dump

I have given you 2 links .. one to the info from the NVC process on preparing for the interview, and one from the USCIS site also on the specific requirements for interviewing at Georgetown.

Prepare well yes.. but use reliable correct resources. Assess others carefully

So I don't wait for NVC to schedule at appointment with the embassy? I have to schedule myself? Oh or do I register the date that they give me in the letter?

Read the letter they send you. Read the official instructions.  I cant tell you what to do beyond that. I read my consulate instructions along side the USCIS links for my consulate .. i followed their directions and instructions. I attended the interview My visa was granted.

From the first link i sent you

Step 10: Prepare for the Interview

After the National Visa Center (NVC) schedules your visa interview appointment, they will send you, your petitioner, and your agent/attorney (if applicable) an email noting the appointment date and time.  After you receive an interview Appointment Letter from NVC, you must take the following steps BEFORE the interview date.

Reading both pieces on info .. the key is

1. NVC says they will set the interview dats and time and notify you

2. The consulate requires you to “register” your interview .. they dont require you to “make” the interview appt itself. Thats already done

If you follow the link, given in the Georgetown consulate info, to register your appointment it will become much clearer to you .  Breathe

I 130 and supporting documents depend on the type of visa

I 130 if parent applied for u would need their marriage and all info about them

I 130 for spouse only info about the spouse and bene are needed (Parents not part of this process unless they are joint sponsors)

I 130 of a child needs info about petitioner,  spouse,  and the child

First this is primarily about the couple and not their parents.

I believe that while at the interview, requests made for documents can be questioned by simply saying that it was not requested on the official list.

Most COs would not go that far unless you really messed up your petition. In that case anything is game and you caused it.

The attached snapshot also does not look like one for the IR1/CR1 category. Not sure which visa that is for.

You need to look at the requirements for your category.

Hi, the document that you are referencing to is from a personal review back in 2016 and that's from a different category. I (Guyanese) had my IR1 interview back in August this year and the documents the consulate requested at the interview were:-

1. My birth certificate, NOTED if issued before 2010, updated one needed.

2. Police clearance, valid for one year from date of issuance.

3. Marriage certificate, NOTED if issued before 2010, updated one needed.

4. Divorce absolute

5. Petitioner 2022 tax transcripts

6. Joint sponsor 2022 tax transcripts and proof of domicile.

7. My medical report was uploaded directly to the embassy by St. Joseph Mercy Hospital.

As a safety I walked with all the documents NVC requested (hard copies) and even additional proof of our marriage.

Thank you so much for the clarification! One more question if your able. Did you also need the petitioners birth certificate issued after 2010? Mine is the same one that was issued when I was born in 1995 ( I am the petitioner). I suprisingly was actually never asked to submit my birth certificate at NVC, just my passport page so wondering if I should get an updated birth certificate for my self. My wife's birth certificate was issued in 2012 and her police certificates will be less than a year old at interview and I have everything else ready so everything should be good to go thankfully.

I really appreciate your help! Thanks!
