Why The Right Should Choose Trump Over DeSantis

Donald Trump is the kingmaker of the Republican Party, and for that reason alone, he remains the best choice for 2024 despite the firestorm of negative media coverage, censorship, and the looming threat of indictment, which have haunted him since being forced out of office in January 2021.  [...]

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

About Paul Ingrassia
Paul Ingrassia is a Claremont Publius and John Marshall Fellow and served in President Trump’s National Economic Council.

Slightly biased, I think?

I don't want a 78 year old Trump elected.  While I do think he could make some accomplishments, I think DeSantis can accomplish much more and serve 2 terms.  With somewhat less division.  And hopefully turn around the country like Reagan did after the dems screwed everything up.

This last part is a bit ridiculous and perhaps DeSantis is bit busy governing his state.

If DeSantis were truly a kingmaker, he would have launched an attack on the Republican establishment, deeming Biden part of an illegitimate establishment, and explicitly called on both Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) to step down to pave the way for better leaders. Figuring himself a would-be presidential candidate, DeSantis would break ranks with his party and attack the national security state head-on, calling for a negotiated settlement with Vladimir Putin. He would expel from state borders any federal agents who willfully circumvent due process and raid the homes of political adversaries with impunity. DeSantis would also recognize the gravity of the political moment, if he were worthy of the title, and make sure that his and President Trump’s interests were perfectly in line. Deference to Trump should be expected out of respect for what DeSantis owes to him and out of recognition that the state of the country depends on these two men operating in sync.

Re: DeSantis

Similar rhetoric was written about Bush I as the successor to Reagan. “Kindler gentler” blah blah blah. It all led to tax hikes under Bush and Clinton. In a recession.

Why settle for anything less than the founder of the movement?

The lack of follow up after he flew 50 migrants to MV should give DeSsntis lovers pause. Some liberals became outraged and he grounded Air Rob.  Do you think Trump would have stopped? You stop only when behavior changes.

I will be supporting  Trump in the primary.  I will be voting for whomever the GOP nominates in the general.  If not Trump, I prefer Lake over DeSantis as she can disembowel an opponent almost  as well as Kayleigh McEnay. Of course I will vote for DeSantis in the general if he is the nominee. But he will be a one termer.

No, don't agree that DeSantis fits that role.  He is tough and puts people in their place.  He just tries to do without calling them names.

Cuz he will be 78.  We are dealing with a pres who is too old now and should learn a lesson from that.  Yes, Trump is sharp but health can turn on a dime, and you never know when.  And of course, the divisiveness.

Same here.

Do you have any links to her performing?  I have not followed her but on the surface it would appear that she does not have the experience yet.

DeSantis isn’t vicious enough. He isn’t uncouth enough. Lake is the complete package.  Show me a Republican who stays within the norms of decorum and I’ll show you a loser (e.g. McCain in 2008, Romney in 2012).

I don't think she is the complete package, yet, but she is interesting.  Thanks for the links.

It was painful to watch for sure.

Katie Hobbs (the Secretary  of state and the architect of Biden’s stunning victory in Arizona in 2020) literally runs away crying rather than debate Lake in the general election.

She is awful.  That one video about "What is one thing you have learned about the Latino community?" should be the nail in her coffin, but of course it is not.
