Hadn’t attached in my initial request since I submitted it as one of the supporting documents. Will do so now through the public inquiry that takes months to be acknowledged 😬 so frustrating, though I hope they’ve already put in the request to uscis.

For family preference I have seen the NVC give the applicant the choice to keep their original category.

 

 

We weren't automatically changed from F2 to IR-1.  We had to call and provide the information.  It was pretty painless (one of the only things that was painless! lol )

Just curious; so you've received the approval from DHS already?

Yes. Took like a month and a half from request to approval.Used the public inquiry form and all responses/communication back to me about the approval came back through the CEAC platform.

Maybe thats why its taken time to process. You should formally do a request separately and attach the the certificate.
