My job is having a huge layoff today - if I am part of the group that is let go - how will this affect the interview?

My wife had her interview in May. She took the AoS packet with her but they did not ask for it when she submitted the documents. All they wanted was her civil documents

So??? That was your interview experience. You cannot extrapolate your experience to any one else's.  I doubt that saying  “ but etragais said you wouldnt ask” will make any difference at her husbands interview ..

If the CO notices that the person comes without supporting evidence ,   they will issue 221 g asking for it

CO's are smart, 

 

they notice when people arrive with chat proofs,  photos proofs,  ect

anyone who comes in bare handed is going to be in AP

 

YOur wife's CO noticed she came prepared / that's the key

 

read back about 2 years ago and 2 of our moroccan members were asked to produce chats proving the meeting date they claimed (chats not airline or hotel proof but chats and one guy said it was years ago and the chats were no longer available )

what may matter is "how strong is the original petition?  and how good is the income ?)

 

U must also be aware that the interview is harder on  a male spouse than female /Why?   for one a muslim woman from Moroc has to marry muslim man and a USC woman can be of another religion other than ISlam   / therefore there is no difference of religion to spark a red flag to the CO

The bottom line on this is that if the petitioner is still on the payroll on interview day, the foreign spouse should carry a recent pay stub, and if asked about the petitioner's employment, say yes they are employed at the same job.  (Of course they should say the company and occupation.)  These questions are in the present tense.  The present tense answer is that the petitioner/sponsor is employed.  Get the visa and get a new job as soon as possible because obviously you need it.

 

Do not answer "yes but only for 6 more weeks".  Just "YES" in the present tense is the truth.  No need to add anything about the future.  They know nobody knows their future.

It's really sad that married people are not able to be joined  or delayed with their spouses in some cases in the US.
