To fill you in: A few weeks ago I sent a status inquiry per email and got a response today that they don't answer those kinds of requests anymore and suggested to call the National Customer Service Center.

We all know how reliable they are with their info, but I called regardless. Had a very nice lady on the phone and I asked to submit a staus inquiry.

She took my data and told me to call back later in the day.

That's what I just did and after speaking to another Customer Service Representative, he transfered my call to an Immigration Officer, Mr Chen...I think some of you have heard from him already via email.

After giving him my A# and reciept# he had my case in no time and asked if I still lived in Shreveport, LA...I do and he said that that is BAD!

I asked him why and he told me to hang on so he can look up the processing dates in New Orleans.

It's sometimes May 2006, I filed December 2006, so roughly more than 6 months! I asked why New Orleans, my case got transfered to CSC and he said it is just pending there, you will get an interview appointment in New Orleans in about 6 months.

I asked three times if he was certain because I was hoping my case would get approved in CSC and he said NOPE, you will definitley go to New Orleans.

He was polite, but I was almost gonna cry. He asked if I had my EAD and SSN so I can at least get my DL, I have all that already but now I definitley have to apply for AP.

Now I have two questions:

1. Do I take this information really serious or is that just something he put together in his mind and at the end I can just get approved anytime soon?

2. We plan to move next year, possibly April, in case I didn't have my interview by then and I change my address (possibly Texas), how do you think this will effect all this mess???

I am soo f***ing frusterated right now. My whole gc process will take like 13+ months... :crying:

I would take anything you are told by the mis-info line with a large grain of salt..... make an infopass at your local office and talk to a immigration officer there.... they should be able to check if your case is still at CSC or if it is being sent to your local office...

The only thing is that they did not speak with a CSR, they spoke with an immigration officer.

Did you check the timelines here on VJ? MOst appear to have been transferred to CSC....

My case is transfered to CSC...according to the IO only until my local office New Orleans is catching up with their cases. Right now they are processing applications from May 06, 2006.

Then I get transfered back there and have an interview there....that is all according to what the IO told me today. Seems like New Orleans is using CSC as "storage unit"

They may very well be storing records elsewhere. The facility was destroyed during Katrina.

If you have to wait 13 or more months, it's unfortunate but you have to wait. Your largest concern should be keeping track of your EAD. It will need renewed annually, and you should file for any renewals about 4 months prior to the expiration date on the card. If it were me, I'd probably do an Infopass before I spent the money for the renewal.

Yes, I am sure keeping track of having my EAD renewed in time. And I know, if the info I got is absolute, I have to wait and there is nothing I can do.

However, that was NOT my question. I was asking, if I can take this for granted or can I expect that I get another answer every time I submit an inquiry.

Well there's basically nothing you can do but wait anyway. Repeatedly calling the misinformation line will surely get you a different answer each time, but if this Mr Chen was in fact a real immigration officer then the information he gave you sounds good and certainly tallys with what others on here have posted.

Waiting sucks, but with immigration that's usually all one can do. In the meantime be happy that you are with your spouse, and you have EAD so can work.

Thank you. I sure am happy to be here and that I can basically do everything I want, including travelling as soon as I have the AP (filed today).

I was really frusterated though, since I never ever had anything to do with the local office in New Orleans, my case has never been there before, my biometrics were taken in Dallas and now I am told my case is getting transfered at the place that is waaaay back with their stuff?

The ironic thing is...by the time they will get to my case, we are probably going to move into the Dallas area, so then they might transfer me again and who knows what does means, but probably another wait.

I don't mind the waiting so much, but I mind the money this will all cost, since I will have to renew my EAD for sure and all that.

About Mr Chen being a "real" immigration officer: IT was definitley a different guy than those CSRs...plus I have seen emails from him that he sent to other VJlers and they were signed "Immigration Officer"

Oh well, sorry for all the venting.

I would not count on anything. Perhaps some pressure from your elected officials could help.

Yeah, we are thinking about contacting the Congressman's office to see if they get the same information I just got to verify.
