According to the CDC, the rate of firearm deaths among children under age 15 is almost 12 times higher in the United States than in 25 other industrialized countries combined. American children are 16 times more likely to be murdered with a gun, 11 times more likely to commit suicide with a gun, and nine times more likely to die in a firearm accident than children in these other countries [3].

DUH! What did you expect when firearms in the "25 other industrialized countries" (I'm guessing the EU) are illegal?!

Double Duh-uh... It doesn't take a rocket scientist to conclude that having a firearm in your home increases potential harm to you and your family members. I just wish that people who believe that owning a gun increases one's safety would admit that. The argument for ever keeping a loaded firearm in the home is for protection, yet ironically, it also puts you and your family at a higher risk.

Shooting your wife with a gun is easier than stabbing her with a knife.

What's the likelihood of accidentally stabbing your wife to death? ;)

All I'm saying is that if you had an argument and wanted to kill your wife, it would

be easier if you had a gun. Sure, it "increases potential harm to" your wife, but

once the deed is done, there are lots of parties to go to. :P

I keep knives, axes, chainsaws and other potentially hazards items out of my bedroom, even though I'm sure a chainsaw would be a great deterrent for anyone trying to break into my home, rape my wife and sell my kids into slavery. But to each his own...that's all I'm saying.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

I have an effective non-lethal way to keep intruders out of my house

07-11-06_1948.jpg

His name is Robin, he ways less than 2 lbs- and he has the satisfaction of striking fear into the heart of even a 6'4 300lb man (my poor brother) when he came into my bedroom. He's very territorial :innocent: And no one expects a tiny rabbit to launch itself at them and gnaw them to death! It's brilliant!

On a more serious note. Guns are only safe when in the hands of someone who actually has the proper education and common sense to handle it. Even then, it's still not 100% safe.

I carry a gun because a cop is too heavy.

I'm curious why so many men have this fear of their wives being raped? Is it some sort of repressed erotic desire? There's a whole line of videos called, F##k My Wife, Please. If I'm going to keep a gun in my bedroom, it's because I'm afraid of my wife...

Easier to get off if you use a knife - better chance of the jury buying that you did it as a crime of passion. The gun has a distancing effect that implies premeditation.

At least according to the forensic pathology book I have at home.
