From Russia to Mongolia

Mongolia offered residency to any Russian willing to emigrate.

 

With ever-increasing difficulties of getting through Poland, with increasing I-129F processing times, how crazy would one be to have their fiancée make a pit stop in Ulaanbaatar for a year?

Not crazy at all. In fact, I think it's an incredibly viable option and those traveling through Mongolia should have their experiences pinned to the top. However, it's important to note that it's the US Embassy - and not the country - which determines which types of residents are eligible for the interview. As an example, in Poland, there's both a Karta Polaka and Karta Pobytu. The former is technically residence, but the Embassy was explicitly clear to me that you need the Karta Pobytu for the resident queues (both K1 and tourist). The latter is the green card equivalent, but it's very delayed right now (even for Belarusians, who are the most likely to get it) because of the Ukrainians (who, ironically, are being hired by the Poles in their government agencies).

Very few reviews, because the country isn't exactly on the beaten path.

It's probably a small consulate with limited resources to process K-1 or CR-1 visas.

Someone should please check whether the objectively severe Covid restrictions in the country have been loosened.

I consulted an expert here.  In case anyone is considering trying to get a Russian K-1 or CR-1 interview in UlaanBataar:  "The consular section there is VERY small in terms of both personnel (likely one or two officers) and space.  And the staff is unlikely to speak Russian or have familiarity with Russian documents.  I would think that if they are able to accept any Russian applicants, it is going to be a very small number."

 

Oh, well, but we never learn what we don't ask about.

Our case transfer request from Poland to Mongolia was rejected for the same reasons outlined above. Limited resources, staff/personnel, etc.

How do I show proof that I am eligible to work in this country?

Naturalized citizens of a country are eligible to work in their country. If you have foreign citizenship, you MUST submit ONE of the following documents with your application to be eligible: Dual Citizenship Certificate, Alien Certificate of Registration card, or Immigrant Certificate of Residence. Documentation must be attached as a part of the application package before HR may screen the application against the requirements of the job as advertised. Otherwise, the application is deemed as “Not Eligible”, regardless of the applicant’s qualifications and skills.

That looks like Admin track, not Consul track.

If embassy housing is provided, as I presume, that's a doggoned good salary.
