Medical ... what exactly do they do?

Hi,

My fiance is wondering what they will do when I go to the medical. When you actually see the doc what does he/she normally do first --- last....can you tell us some examples?

I tried to look up experiances especially with female "aliens" but the search function on this site doesn't work too well.

Love hurts

When you live an ocean away

When you change your sleep schedule to catch a few more moments

When you really need to be held and you have to imagine whilst your partner describes it

When you constantly refresh the USCIS website to see if you're getting any closer

Love Loves

When it repays you with the love of your life

When God finally answered your biggest prayer

When you can live life again in the real world but still have that eternal connection

When you wake up for to the beginning of the rest of your life with the person you fought so hard for

When you love somebody that much

You'll do anything

I am male and had my medical last week.

A quick questionnaire is done, very similar to the one sent in Packet 3. You are then given a chest x-ray and then taken to see the doc, mine was female.

A few more simple questions about health and then you are asked to strip to your underwear. You are wieghed and your height is measured. They then take a blood sample and examine your genitalia.

Thats pretty much it. The blood is sent for analysis and then sent to the Embassy if all is clear.

Same thing with my fiance except he had to go back and pick up his medical results in 7 days then send to the embassy himself.

Can a female possibly answer concerning the "examine your genitalia" part as if this is a must to pass then alot of time has been wasted for us as I would be likely to revoke the App. then let it happend...

I can't answer your question about the medical exam.

However, I am Muslim and when i had my exam done for my work they wanted me to strip down. I refused unless there was a female doctor. There was no female doctor at the time, so guess what they did ? Continue with the exam but with my clothes on.

Request a female doctor. It shouldn't be that big of a deal for them to find one.

I have to add that nobody had to "examine my genitalia" , but if they needed for something as important as immigration (I'm the USC) I would let them do it if there was a femal doctor. Good luck !

Fiona,

I had my medical exam in London in february for K1 and you will be fine, they won't ask to see anything!! You do need to change into a dressing gown in just your underwear and they prod and poke your stomach but that's about it, as well as taking a blood test. You'll be fine. My doctor was a south african guy and was extemely nice, oh and you can ask for a female nurse to be present for it all if that is any help to you. The doctor does ask if you've had any problems concerning that area but that is as much as it was. Hope this helps!!

Ah good thank god I would've had a serious problem there, an I'm sure alot of you may be thinking that it's no big deal but each man has his own wounds which salt is easily poured and in this case it is wone of my few. Sadly enough I would've switched places to go to England to get past it, not sure if it ease's Fiona as it was mainly my concern but it does me alot, I thank you...

Hi

I had my medical March 8 and the Dr I had was very pleasant Dr Laeritz. They take a chest x-ray, blood sample, height, weight, blood pressure, eye test, reflexes, listen to your chest, go through all the questions on the list. take a quick peek to confirm if you are male or female. You get to keep your under wear on and slip the gown on top. Ladies need to remove bra for chest x-ray and that's it. The Dr I had explained the whole procedure before hand and asked if I had any questions. Oh yes don't know how old Fiona is guessing she's younger than me but ladies over 35 have a breast exam too.

Hope that makes Fiona feel better. Honestly I was really nervous as i have severe white coat syndrome was very suprised when my blood pressure was normal! That's how easy the Dr made it!

Good Luck

Andrew,

"genital exam" does sound pretty horrible, but every grown woman learns how to handle having a GYN exam; they are a part of life.

The reasons this is done (and it's not done all the time, or for any one reason) can be to confirm that there is no evidence of STDs and that the claimed gender is correct! eek.

Andy, what do you mean, "switched places to go to England"?

The exam has to be conducted in London and not somewhere else if that's what you mean.

I read it as he'd rather move to the UK than have her take a GYN exam.

There is no GYN exam for London the Dr just looks to confirm your sex that is it. Literally seconds -lifts sheets looks that is it nothing else! Checking for STd's is done by way of blood test.

I was wondering about that, and thought that since women are very private about their GYNs, that we could go to our own and make all the necessary exams and then take the results to the medical. But if it´s just a peek to see if you´re trully female, I guess nothing wrong.
