Hi,

i am not sure if i am in the right forum. I just want to know if what ID i could get first while AOS is still in the process. They have approved my EAD and they give me SSN.

A.Is this okay to use in opening a bank account and DMV card?
b. When we call DMV they need a letter or utility bill with my address but i dont have that yet. So if i may ask for those who have experience like this before if how they process their IDs and how they get to open bank account?
C do you have any suggestion on what ID i could get?

thank you so much for all your help.

Get anything showing your name at that address...like a lease, bill from a store...anything.  Then, get a driver's license or a state ID using that as proof of local residence and your EAD.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

Thank you for your reply, unfortunately, the lease is under my brother in law. I have no bill under my name. What kind of item i could get where they could handwritten my name and address?  Bec i thought its all electronic paper receipt.

Send yourself a letter.  When it comes in the mail, you have something that proves you live at that address.

It's better than nothing.  Is it enough to get an ID?  I don't know.

so once i get DMV card i could just open bank account right? Thank you

My husband added me to his account with just a copy of my birth certificate, our marriage certificate, my passport and my overseas Tax ID… regions have a process where they can use that info if no US documents available… see if your bank has the same. Once I was put on the joint account, opening my own savings account was easy… giving me 2 accounts with my US address on them
