Hi folks,

Is there a thread that shares details on how one can apply for a tourist visa for minors? I assume the application process will be somewhat similar but I am not sure about the interview as well as the documents needed for legal guardianship and etc. Any info would be highly appreciated.

Thanks

Poland is a VWP country

I know, however the applicant is not a PL citizen and will be going to PL in order to interview. The country of birth has a very long wait compared to PL. My parents and some other relatives successfully did this in PL. The question is what does the minor need to apply?

You will get much better help if you give all the detail on the situation.

Minor is 10 years old. Non Polish citizen. Grandparents have visas and would like to bring him to Orlando amusement parks. Parents do not have visas and have been refused to one.

It seems that you don't want to reveal his citizenship so you will not get help from people who know that country or may have even done this Poland route.  His citizenship does not disappear just because he applies in Poland.

Just a guess, but I think the fact that his parents were refused will have an impact on his chances.

His citizenship has nothing to do with my question and is completely irrelevant to this. The question is asking for administrative process vs technical details.

It's not an official rule, but most consulates will not issue a tourist visa to a minor child unless at least one of the child's parents has a visa. There are certainly exceptions if the child has a valid reason to go to the US without his or her parents, but a trip to Disney with the grandparents is unlikely to be one of them.

Thanks for the info. This is very helpful. I assumed parents' consent would be needed but did not know about the need for parents to travel as long as they authorized it. Makes sense though.

They can certainly try--it's not likely to hurt anything, and they should definitely have letters from the parents authorizing the trip as well as all the birth certificates that prove the relationship, but it's ultimately hard to see a consular officer approving a visa for a child's purely voluntary tourist trip without a parent or legal guardian--too much risk that anything bad that may happen will rebound back on that officer.

That makes a lot of sense. I guess it doesn't make sense for them to spend a few thousand to travel to a different country while the approval odds are largely against them.

Nom-Polish could be literally from anywhere. You need to be very specific if you need our help.

With all due respect I don't believe that nationality is of relevance here at all. And I mean at all. Administrative processing is the same for everyone and that is what I asked, not the approval odds, chances or anything else. I am unsure why people on this forum would like to know every single detail of every applicant.

I understand that people are on edge with long waites and etc but the general feel of VJ welcome attitude has drastically changed in the recent years.

if you are kind enough to help with your comment your help will be appreciated, otherwise asking questions for the sake of asking questions does not help very much.
