I'm a U.S. Citizen and the petitioner for a I-129F and I just completed my biometrics appointment here at the Las Vegas field office so the Vermont Service Center can continue processing our petition. What is the next step in our petition? I've been told by USCIS Support that once the biometrics is completed the next step is a decision on the case, but I'm just curious if that's right!  I'm praying and hoping that a decision is the next step as we've been waiting for more than 2 years for any progress on our petition. Has anyone else ever been requested to do a biometrics as the petitioner, if so pls let me know what happened after biometrics appointment. I know in the past with my last two ex-wives anytime they had to do biometrics that a decision was made with in a couple weeks of completing the biometrics.

Normally, the next step is approval, denial, or an RFE.  But, it sounds like there is more to your story.  Good luck.

In summary, it took 13 months for approval of the CR-1.  It took 44 months for approval of the I-751.  It took 4 months for approval of the N-400.   It took 172 days from N-400 application to Oath Ceremony.   It took 6 weeks for Passport, then 7 additional weeks for return of wife's Naturalization Certificate..

USCIS very rarely ever requires a petitioner to submit biometrics.

Yes, I understand that but they requested biometrics to confirm I'm not wanted by the FBI.

We applied for k1 visa in June 2019.  In March 2022 the petitioner did biometrics.  And we received a decision in July 2022.

I noted he said Vermont Service Center, which I think confirms there's much more here; to OP, Vermont is where more complicated cases (read: criminal background) are sent, which can take any amount of time. I noticed you are waiting over 2 years for your NOA2, perhaps someone with VSC experience will know more than us. Best of luck.

Thanks! But VSC isn't the only office that process criminal background checks, but your correct that most of the complex cases do go to VSC!

Ok sounds good! So your petitioner was required to do a biometrics as well! I see it took almost 4 months after your petitioner's biometrics appointment was finished for them to make a decision on your petition but did they approve your petition? Also, which USCIS office approved your case?

Definitely more to the story. This post from almost 2 years ago gives a bit more important background information. This is the fourth petition, and there is some kind of criminal background.

LOL.   Two years later, answers haven’t changed 😉
