Hi, I lived in Nashville for 4 years. I'm not a big fan of Indian food so I don't have any suggestion. I would recommend going to the Nashville Farmers Market (http://www.nashvillefarmersmarket.org/). There is a store in the indoor part of the market... I think the name is International Market. Its run by Indians and has everything you would want to prepare Indian food at home, plus DVDs, etc. I'm sure the people who work and shop there can point you in the right direction. Also, they are the best place in town to get international calling cards (2nd best is the Dollar General store's international phone cards).

If you need to know anything else about Nashville feel free to PM me.

He'll have to con someone else into taking him - I can't stand Indian food.

 my hubby doesn't get the British obsession with curry. Whenever he leaves on business I miss him but am always thinking what I am going to order from the takeaway.... :P

When I do good, I feel good; when I do bad, I feel bad, and that is my religion.

As a spoiler: it IS possible to serve Texan food (chili) as a curry--gravy made from Hunts tomato puree and McCormick's chili-seasoning!

(from experience--I brought a bean-and-vegetables chili to a church potluck with just such sauce, and was asked by several if I had Indianised it)

Oooh, I'm sure it is delicious because I also really like Mexican food (I'm really looking forward to proper Mexican cuisine and not what passes for it here in the UK!!)

BUT - a good curry cannot be replaced! There is just something amazingly gorgeous and satisfying about a saag or jalfrezi that cannot be substituted - and as for chana massala.... mmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Anyway, I am definitely heading for the Woodlands when I arrive - anyone who wants to come along is most welcome - I will still miss the El halal in Aylesbury UK but this sounds like a great one as an alternative.

Exactly. There's more to an Indian curry than chili and spice. The pilau rice, the keema naan, the onion bhaji with raita. Also a curry doesn't have to blow your head off either. Chicken Korma, lamb pasanda etc. Delicious without a volcano rating. :)

Chinese is going to be a bit of a problem. I have been taken to what was described as a good Chinese restaurant and, although it was indeed tasty, it wasn't a touch on a good old British Chinese!! LOL
