So are you saying that once the K-3 is issued, there is a short window before the beneficiary must make an entry to the US (appear at a POE)? And if that entry is not made within that window, then the K-3 expires?

Or are you saying that there is a short window between the time the I-129F PETITION is approved and the actual K-3 VISA is stamped? And if the visa is not stamped within that window, the the petition approval expires?

what shelf life means. you have a LIMITED amount time before the I-129F< k-3> petition is considered not valid. dont get this confused with the actual k-3 visa that is issued. this is valid for 2 years once - you arrive at POE. thats when the 24 months begin. -Thats why its always expedited to the embassy. in case you dont know this its automaticly expedited. its designed to allow your spouse to come to the USA to wait for the approval of the I-130. so if and when you interview for the K-3 < I-129f > and are placed on AR/AP alot of times its expires!! its up to the CO to extend the date of it. if the I-130 makes it to the embassy when you are waiting for the k-3. sadly the embassy will automaticly cancell the K-3. so like in our case waiting 10 months on AP/AR for I-129f - it already expired, fizzled and died. its now useless. the CO did not want to extend the life of our K-3. there for cancelled it. now we are CR1.

if we were working with a diffrent embassy other than pakistan. the K-3 would have worked better in all our favor. but, at the same time the Cr1 < I-130 > is being processed faster than K-3. so those in

other nations dont bother with the k-3 because, its usless to them. :( plus its more hassles. in light of the new IMBRA laws I suspect at one point K-3 will be affected too.

*note: at this time Imbra is not affected at this time. its the k-1/k-2 expect delays.

i believe she is talking about the petition itself. and not the visa. The petition seems to expire before the interview, so the co usually extends the date of the petition.

hafiz is right.

from the time you get approval til the time k-3 is issued it has a short life span.

we are not talking about when the K-3 is stamped. alot of the times the CO will extend the expiry date.

but, NOT IF YOU HAVE I-130 approved. we are the classic case of K-3 interviews. then while on

AP- the I-129f petition expires. 165.00 down the toilet, along with the expired medicals, the police reports.

AS A MATTER OF FACT IT DOES! Mine expired and so did Sheila and Sohails

the CO in BOTH cases refused to extend the K-3 dates < I-129f Petitions >

if you have an approvd I-130 petition for CR1/ IR1 the CO will not extend your K-3 date.

because, in both our cases I-130 petition is at the embassy..

The K-3 appointment letter that my wife got from Islamabad just says that "Police Clearance Certificate from the nearest police station" is required.

Three Questions:

1. Does this mean that she needs one from the local police station for every address she has lived at since she was 16?

2. Is the answer to #1 different for K-3 as compared to CR-1? Or the same?

3. Does Islamabad Embassy normally ask to see the Police Clearance?

Thanks!

Is it ok to send in those IRS transcripts ordered over the phone instead of copies of W2's? or do you need both? thanks

wow sqbt, look what difference a month can make. You filed one month before me, and mashallah you got your interview already. This is so cool

sqbt are you planning on doing AOS, or are you sending wife back for cR1 interview.

"Your household size includes yourself and the followingin invdiduals, no matter where they live: any spouse, anydependent children under the age of 21, any other dependents listed on your most recent Federal income tax return, allpersons being sponsored in this affidavit of support, and anyimmigrants previously sponsored with a Form I-864 or FormI-864 EZ affidavit of support whom you are still obligated tosupport."

So this is different then the guidelines before?

I mean i dont claim anyone as dependent on my tax forms. So my househould size would be 2(me and my immigrant spouse). Or do i include my parents and siblings who happened to live in the house. Thanks
