Calling everyone going thru Islamabad Embassy, version 2.0

A question for everyone who has gone through AP and cleared it:

What time does the embassy usually call to ask for the passport?

Also is there any time limit to security checks? How soon do they expire?

Thank you very much in advance. Please answer these questions if you have any knowledge.

Regards,

Sara.

The embassy will send your husband a letter or call him to come back to them on certain days of the week between certain times. In most cases they need a letter to regain entrance into the embassy. This step usually happens when they are getting ready to issue the visa. They will keep the passport and then send it back usually within a few weeks via a courier. They do not give it back same day. Good luck!

CONDOR-3 MONTHS

MANTIS-3 MONTHS

NCIC data bases depends on the checks and agencies.

Most checks are valid up to 3 months before they expire. Now these are just the 3 that are mandatory but does not include any others that the CO decided to ask for and have run for the security clearance. Three are tons of checks and no one ever knows which other ones are asked for before the visa is issued.

Everything I respond to is from personal knowledge, research or experience and I am in no means a lawyer or do I claim to be one. Everyone should read, research and be responsible for your own journey.

When my husband got AP I was devastated and called DOS every two weeks and got to know some of the operators. I kept very good notes and even did a Microsoft sheet with the date, time of day that I called, and the operator's name. Then I made notes and this list is several pages long and most calls were always answered still in AP.

One operator would ask me how I was doing when I called in since we talked several times. I remember I had called in on a Monday or Tuesday and asked for an update. She told me to call back later in the week. I asked her do you get information later in the week and she told me most of the time the embassy put notes on the cases on Wednesday or Thursdays. So this is how I came into the knowledge of this information and after her informing me with this information I only called DOS like I suggest to everyone else.

Everything I respond to is from personal knowledge, research or experience and I am in no means a lawyer or do I claim to be one. Everyone should read, research and be responsible for your own journey.

Thank you very much Mary for the post. I was only curious about the time the embassy calls people during the day. Now they rarely ask for a second interview unless a verdict wasn't given at the time of the original interview. For some case they do ask the applicant to appear at the embassy again along with his/her passport. At the time of my interview, the CO told me that my visa has been approved but that he needed to run these routine checks.

Thank you again for the post.

God bless you.

Sara.

Because of the holidays (Thanksgiving, eid, and christmas upcoming) and security concerns, it seems passport delivery is slightly delayed. I have not heard of anyone getting a passport recently. I suspect much of the staff is either on vacation or not reporting to the embassy as a precaution.

How do you guys get ahold of the embassy? Everytime we call its busy and we cant get through, and we have tried several times.

If anyone knows of a better number how to get thur to actually talk to a live person. I think it would be better if the USC calls. I live on EST. If someone can provide me with a number and a good time to call it would be greatly appreciated.

Waheed has tried many times to call the embassy. Even when he does get through he is put on hold a very long time and then, they just hang up. In my opinion, it is completely pointless to try anymore. We write emails and they send us the same response each time .... if they chose to respond. This embassy seems to be so completely out of control in more ways than one. Very unprofessional !! I realize I did not give you an answer to your question browneyedgirl.... Sorry, just venting

dhoobeeee have u recieved ur passport yet or not?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Shakira, your overall manners on this thread are unhelpful and rude. You just ask questions and never help anyone. You never thank someone for the help they give or say you appreciate their assistance. You put those question marks and exclamation points as if Dhobee owes you an answer. You do not even spell his name correctly (which is one of the most disrespectful things you can do). You just want Dhobee to answer so you can buy a ticket instead of listening to the good advice people give you. You never do any of your own research and just ask every question that pops into your help. If you are not going to listen to people's advice or help and just do what you want, then don't ask here.

Recently, this thread has been showing great progress on behaving in a manner befitting us. You single handedly are ruining it.

I don't think there is a separate number people are calling. I always use +(92-51) 208-2700. Sometimes it takes a while to get through. Last time I tried calling, it took about 25 minutes of calling to get through.

For NVC at least, Monday is usually the worst day of the week to call because all of the calls people wanted to make over the weekend but could not because they were closed are made on Mondays. The same theory applies for calls made right when they open. I would suspect similar things apply when it comes to calling the embassy. It seems the best time to call (assuming you are still up) is in the middle of the open hours or towards the end.

From what I can see, there is no difference between the USC calling and the spouse. It really is about persistence.
