Shakira, there is little upside to buying a ticket now but plenty of downside. It is simply a huge risk. My wife was put on AP so it happens more than you think. I have not heard of single person getting visa same day at Islamabad. Everyone has to go through American Express.

yaar hardly any girl is put on AP. i am not too worried abt that

i have soo many friends who got their visas the same day!!!!! just because they are females u know

all i am worried abt is how long does it take to get the visa in ur hand?

For K1 the form DS-157 is not required for Pakistani Female??? rite . I remember reading somewhere that DS-157 is only for male applicant.

No western has ever come close to this one....and no western ever will.

Salam...I truly have no idea as to why she is on AP...in fact I don't think anyone can answer that correctly. Of course we have some suspicions. My wife's last name is Khan and i'm not sure if that maybe put up a red flag in the DOS's charts. Aside from that, all our paperwork was in perfect order. The interview was wonderful. She's never been out of Pakistan except for a small vacation to Dubai when she was younger. It is very frustrating. My only answer is that the security clearence process for the United States is very out-dated. I believe a lot of it is still done by hand. Moreover, we can't overlook that the country of Pakistan is considered a problematic area to the US. I mean hardly two weeks can't go by without some kind of devestating happening there. I wouldn't be surprised if the people in charge of security tend to scrutinize over our visa's due to our country of orgin.

PS....for some reason when i click on the spreadsheet, the link doesn't work for me??

Although there is no official list, the list of countries reportedly affected by these restrictions includes, but is not limited to, Afghanistan, Algeria, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Djibouti, Egypt, Eritrea, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Libya, Malaysia, Morocco, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen. This is one list of countries that have more stricter security checks.

And like DR N stated the stability of the area does not help matters either.

No one knows why they are put on AP. Our case is now in Washington so I suspect there is some security clearance stuff going on.

She has also never been to the US but she does have an unlimited entry visa to the UK and has been there many times. Don't think just because you have been to the US you are safe from AP. I know of a case that was put on AP for a K3 visa. AP ended and the K3 was approved on the same day as their interview for their CR1 so they decided to just go ahead and interview for the CR1. The K3 was canceled and they were put on AP for the CR1. They are still on AP 8 months later. Don't build up the expectation for yourself you will be approved only to have a major let down.

DR.N & Zayd ne reason why they r on AP??

A question for everyone who has gone through AP and cleared it:

What time does the embassy usually call to ask for the passport?

Also is there any time limit to security checks? How soon do they expire?

Thank you very much in advance. Please answer these questions if you have any knowledge.

Regards,

Sara.
