Thanks I am working hard on it. Maybe we get a wayout

Still waiting for reply.

Does anyone know when the auto tel. system of NVC say your case sent to embassy how much time does it take to reach US Embassy, Islamabad. And what tel. no. can the embassy be contacted.

I am worried since my interview date is in early september and I have noted that all the letters that I received from NVC reached in 6-8 weeks which would mean I would receive my interview letter either a day earlier or a few days after interview. If that is so I will miss my medical as the doctor does not give appointment without that letter.

Can the embassy send me this letter as they will have the entire file. I had an option that my wife sends the saiod letter from US but she has also come to Pakistan and await my interview, so no one can send it now from US as well. What should I do.

Shas1,

Try to have someone (your wife's neighbor or a relative) to pick her mail or something and either fax it to you or scanned copy sent to you. You will need to have that letter. hopefully you will have the letter before the interview in mail. my wife got hers in 5 weeks. But don't just sit on it, work on an alternative to have someone sent the letter to you.

not really sure how else this could be resolved, the embassy won't send you anything, it's really hard to even get in touch with them to begin with but you can try calling or sending an email.

ok guys.........most of you here know that I am always asking and stuff on the board....

well I have a question and well........I know there are NO dumb questions but here it goes anywho......

DO YOU THINK AP WOULD HAVE BEEN STARTED ON SOMEONE IF THEY WEREN'T GOIN TO GET A VISA?????????? DO YOU THINK THE TIME WOULD BE WASTED ON THAT .......IF THE PERSON WASN'T GOIN TO GET THE VISA??

thoughts on this please :D

thanks so much

Aisha

This would not make any sense at all. Why would they put someone on AP if the visa is denied. DOS is already loaded with cases, I am almost sure its against their protocol to waste the resources for a candidate whom they are not issuing visa.

Visa denials are mostly because of false statements, criminal charges, frauds etc, they can not deny your husband's visa due to a mistake in I-864 or because of a divorce document.

Aisha,

assuming you will submit docs w/in few weeks, the first check is not processed till 3 mons into the AP... if the co requested the other checks, it culd take another 3/4 mons, they dont simoutonously process checks! ... and if the other checks are not processed on time, guess what? your first checks expire w/in 5 mons after and the applicant has to go back and get them again! Its a loop:(

But when the DOS says he is under AP, the word AP not only implies security clearance, but also any other processings that co. is goin' to do, for instance submitting n reviewing the required docs, at times they send the field investigter afterwards... calling and askin' neighbors IF the co. doubts the validity of the case etc. these all r refered to as AP! Also, I THINK DOS share the embassy network, they read off the notes to your file, but the checks are performed by other agencies. I am sure you re aware of that.

If they don't process the checks simoutnously , i doubt they will put an applicant ahead when the required docs are not compelete.

If your spouse has an uncommon name, u will b lucky=) but i feel the guys in mid 20s r victims:( I wish they would segregate the indviduals by their educational background or something! Khair, therez a time for everythin'

may Allah SWT make it easy on you both. The above is my interperation!

After the interview, she was told congratulation and you will receive your visa in 7 days

next day she came back to Karachi.

on Aug, 5 she received a call from American Express to pickup the passport

she picked up the passport on Aug 6th

Application Fees For Non-Immigrant Visas To Increase On January 1, 2008

12/17/2007

Islamabad - Effective January 1, 2008, the application fee for a U.S. nonimmigrant visa will increase from $100 to $131. This increase allows the State Department to recover the costs of security and other enhancements to the non-immigrant visa application process. This increase applies both to non-immigrant visas issued on machine-readable foils in passports and to border crossing cards issued to certain applicants in Mexico.

Any applicants that file a K-1 or K-3 pay their fingerprint fees at the day of their interview. http://islamabad.usembassy.gov/pr-121707.html here is the link for the updated fees and the full story.

Congrats, my wife had her interview the same day (August 1st); she told me that only one girl she saw got the visa approved right away (no AP).

Hi' B2sedan, So your wife had the interview on the same day august 1st. So did she get her vis as well????? if not/why?

Yeah, she didn't get the visa, she was put on AP (he said in 6 weeks they call her and have her mail her passport back to the embassy and then they would give her the visa), the CO gave her a blue sheet of paper and a purple sticker on her passport I think. No explanation was give as to why she was put on AP, she signed one form while she was there, and the CO didn't look at any of the documents she provided, he just looked at our pictures then told her congratulations you've got the visa but we need to do some more processing, etc.

Sorry to hear that, I do wish you best of luck and hope she gets her visa sooner then 6 weeks. I can understand how frustrating this could be. I guess you will have to call the DSO as others to confirm your status. Once again thank you for the detail and Inshallah everything will work out for the best.
