i've always used DHL , over night is over night! will get there w/in 3 days

The new process does seem like a very postive change, but with all the changes that NVC has put into place........they could at least update the site ( trave. state. gov). I think that would help out alot of newbies......including some of us that have been going through this for awhile. at least that is my 2 cents worth on it :)

Question????

IF one needed to send something to USA from Pakistan, what is the fastest service besides FedEx and DHL??

Is everyone pretty much going through the admin. processing/name check. I am a USC and my wife is in Pak. What are the chances she would be selected for name check? Her interview hasn't been scheduled yet but probably be in July.

Thanks

Pakmani,

I think there are less chances for females to go thru name checking or AP, as some of the other folks have also mentioned it on this forum. But I do think there are some last names that can put a candidate on higher chances to be on name check. I know one example with the last name "khan." But then again these name checks could be very random. it’s all still a mystery.

I also see your case being a week ahead of some of us, it would be great if you keep us up to date on how your case moves along with the new process (new DS-230 supporting docs requirements etc)

Thx

Hey Salaam to all the fellow Islamabad filers. I've read through some of the thread (can't read all of the 369 pages). But anyway...I'm an Islamabad filer obviously. Right now my case is still at the Cali Service Center. Submitted it in Feb 2008. Just been reading about how slow Islamabad is to get the packets out and set interview dates.

Basically, I'm going through the K-1 visa. Planning on bringing my fiancee here in March or April of 2009 (Insha'Allah). Hopefully by then she'll have her visa and everything.

Just thought I'd shout out to you guys. Good luck!

ISL doesn't set interviews. Maybe they did in the past but ISL is now an Appointment Post meaning NVC sets up the interview and sends your file to ISL. I believe this process is faster as far as scheduling the interview goes.

My file at NVC was just completed, I will let you know when my interview is scheduled.

Cool. Thanks man. Yeah it would be nice if it is quicker. I know how much of a hassle it is to get things done back home.

Thanks Pakmani,

I learned about ISL being an "appointment post" myself recently. This change happend in late FEB 08. NVC processing here and scheduling interviews will be much faster. Please keep us posted and good luck

Thx

AA, my brother and his family finaly got the immigrant Visa interview appointment letter, we got date of May 30 at 8 AM. It is under F4 catogery. I have some questions, if some one please help me.

1. The interview letter telling us to bring US$400 visa processing fee with us on day of interview for each family member. Do any one know where you pay this? AT ISL Embassy or at some where else before we arrive for interivew. Do you have to pay cash or can we use Credit card or write a check.

2. Has any one recently been to ISL? We are flying out of Karachi day before the interview May 29 and flying back from Islamabad on May 30 late in night. Is this enough time? On the day of Visa, how long you have to stay in Islamabad? Can we fly back same day May 30 later in night to Karachi?

3. On day of interview May 30, where we have to go?? I have read that you go to convention center 6 AM then buy a bus ticket. Our interview time is 8 AM. After you buy your bus ticket you go through security to get on bus. Then bus take you close to US Embassy ISL. After you get off the bus, you have to walk to US Embassy compound. You have to go through security again. Then You have to stay in line for 3-4 hours before you go in to the interview room.

4. After the interview you get your passport back with visa or you have to wait and come back next day?

5. What duration of visa you get on your passport, 1 year, 6 months or only 3 months.

I would greatly appreciate all of your reply. AH

Hello everyone,

I called the Islamabad embassy asking them questions about the Affidavit of Support for the K3 visa and which one to fill out for a joint sponsor. The conselor told me to fill out a I-134, and since I am also having a joint sponsor which is my Mother, that my Mother would have to fill out a separate I-134. Did anyone do something similar as far as filling out two I-134's for sponsor and joint sponsor.

Thanks,

Elijah

Yes, you have to fill out the I-134 and your Mom has to fill one out too. Hope this helps.

Thanks, I sent off for a new one just incase. I just got it back on friday, its pretty cool, in Indiana they send you a certificate and a wallet size both with the seal. The one I had is as old as me and falling apart, it has all my immunizations on it so i didnt want to send the orginal of that one incase i never got it back, i would have no record of immunizations.

Hi,

As far as Tax returns for the K3. I have Transcripts of 2006, 2007 tax returns from the IRS, that I will be sending with my I-134 affidavit of support. I did not have copies of my tax returns, thats why I requested transcripts from the IRS. Would this be a problem?

Elijah
