Hey Islo town, I just wanted to share the good news with you all that my little bro recived a call from U.S embassy in Islambad while I was at work and they told him that I got approved for k1 and I should mail my passport to the U.S embassy to get it stamped for the visa  I mailed my passport through American express today. It will take about a week to 10 business days to get it back. AX will inform me when they get my passport back.

As soon as I heard the news, I called my fiance and she was so happy that she started crying (tears of happines :) ) I was in AP since october 9th of 07 so about 5 months of wait which wasn't bad. This time has build a lot of patience in me so I wanted to give a shout to all AP waiting parties to be patient and soon you will hear good news as they say, there is always light at the end of the tunnel which is so true. I wanted to thank every body in this forum who helped me out and wish every body good luck. May God be with you to get through this time. Peace guys.

Congratulations and look forward to hearing that you have the visa in hand soon.

Hey all,

For the past couple weeks I have been emailing ISL Embassy alot. Do you guys think e-mailing too many times will effect my case (K-1).

Taufik

They are there to respond to your emails but if you email them too much they will just stop responding to you in a timely fashion. I have seen this in the past. Emails every once in a while for an update are fine but several a week just causes the staff to stop working on cases that need processing to respond to the emails. Remember that there are hundreds of cases needing processing and if everyone is sending mutliple emails each week then the staff cannot focus of processing of cases. I will pray for you patience since this is a big matter for all couples that have to go through Islamabad. I was in your shoes once and know that it is hard but you have to take your journey one day at a time.

Also mary i got 2 emails from uscis stating that a green card production has been ordered. the first was for FEb 7 2008 and the card arrived on FEb 19 2008. The second email came stated that green card production ordered on FEB 12 2008. So maybe they issued another one? lol. i will call and find out.

Any news Hafiz? I am anxious to find out if they are going to issue a revised card or not?

Mary

My wife and I got here NY a couple of days ago. The POE was simple except the very first officer we went to was new and was a bit nervous and after trying for ten minutes or so sent us to the back room where my wife and I set nervously for about 15 minutes before a man handed over our paper work and asked us to go to the final stop where two nice ladies took my finger prints and offered welcome greetings. I went the same afternoon to the Social Security office where they told me that I will get my new SS card in a week or so.

I might have to leave the country and go back to work before even I receive my Green Card in the mail (the immigration officers told me that it should be ok), any comments, suggestions or experiences in that regard, please?

Thanks everyone and Good luck to all of you!

I wouldn't suggest you to leave US without your PR Card in your hand, as you know the position of the country. The immigration officers might try to give you hard time on the way back here so, wait for a month and then you should be ok.

Blessings from Almighty ALLAH for all of us.

Which documents do I need to send to NVC along with DS-230 for my parents?

I thought a copy of passport, but I am not sure if I see it listed anywhere and they are currently in middle of applying for passport so I would much rather send DS-230 now (if possible, rather than wait til the passport copy becoming available).

You can do the medical one month in advance if you have the letter for them to verify that you are scheduled for an interview.

But doesnt the embassy letter say that have your medical done no more than 2 weeks before the interview. I think that the interview letter does say that.

ours said no more than 1 month in advance!! its only a matter of 2wks.... thats the difference btw. 1 month and 2wks! They do that partially becuase if you get put on AP, you wont have to do amedical again if it takes a long time while in AP..... the medical i believe is good for 1 year!

I am happy to report that I arrived in USA with family on 2/26/08

POE was JFK and with our luck we were asked to go to counter 1 at the airport for Immigration. The IO was a new employee and two other experienced IOs we looking over his shoulder. IO asked question on every line of every screen of his terminal to other IOs and took about 20 to 25 to enter 3 records. We then went to another desk and submitted all our paper work to two ladies there. Now time to collect our luggage and all our bags arrived safely. We got out of terminal 4 and went to terminal 6 for our final flight home to FL.

All in all immigration experience at JFK wasn't bad just slow because of new IO.

I like to thank all VJers for their support and help during my "journey" through this tough time. I wish all a quick and smooth reunion with their loved ones. Good Luck to all.

At what stage the following papers are submitted? once u get packet 3.5

1. Copy of the Approval Notice

2. Letter of Intent (same as filed earlier but directed to consulate)

3. Evidence of ongoing relationship.

Packet 3.5 check list does not mentions any of the above. Do we still need to send this out with the packet or take these to the interview?

Thanks

Jaxguy congratulations on having your family home now.

Ayaz, I did not do the K1 maybe someone can confirm but the K-1 takes all evidence on the day of the interview was my understanding. Somebody please confirm if you read this.

Farah,

I wish I could tell you that it is okay or it will be a problem and with Islamabad you never know until you have the visa in hand or a denial. His name could be common and I know he traveled in the past and these could be problematic with the AP going in and out? I know when we were in AP at the time it was not discussed and I had never heard of a home field investigation and we were concerned. We made plans that if he was denied that we would move to another country or myself to Pakistan to live. I always suggest to look at all options just in case

something does not go your way. I found it was hard to move to another country and education for kids that are not born in these countries cost a fortune so we were blessed that in the end we were approved.

Do not give up hope that he will not get his visa!!!!!! You have to stay strong and try not to linger on the not knowing part. I know it is hard and I had to find other things to focus on and when we talked daily on the net and phone we never discussed the AP but once a week after I called DOS. I told him funny jokes, made faces in camera and we kept it all light hearted. I know people in Pakistan tried to tell him I forgot about him, I was American and he should of been in USA within 3-6 months of our marriage and he was telling me about their nonsense. So try and keep it light between you and look at other options only as a last resort since you wish to have the visa in hand.

AP does not have a time limit and that is why you cannot say going in and out of AP is a bad thing. There are so many security checks and each one must be approved and current and if one is late or expires it causes AP to start all over again. Hang in there.

Here is a listing of only a few security checks and their validity that I found on the web but you have IBIS, FBI, et.

Hi everyone,

I had my nikkah a couple of years ago over the phone and had my rukhsati the year after in 2007. I applied for my wifes visa after the nikkah in 06. Yesterday my wife had her interview and went to the embassy. she was asked a few question which she answered to. The CO was a lady and asked my wife when was the last time i visited. My wife said in 07. The CO asked that i came in 06 and then again in 07? my wife replied that i did not come in 06 as we had our nikkah over the phone and its marriage by proxy. The CO said she didnt know anything about that and how that was possible that we had our marriage date listed as 2006 and got married then but i wasnt even there. She was very rude. The translator told the CO that this was usual and that there are such cases. The CO then asked how the marriage certificate was signed while i wasnt there. My wife said my Lawyer signed it on my behalf. She again was very shocked and said how was that possible. She then gave my wife a blue slip and said it will take them minimum 6 more weeks for further processing which i beleive is AP. I am just worried that are they gonna make a big deal of the marriage by proxy issue. Do you think they issued the blue slip because of that? Has anyone had there nikkah over the phone ?? I am just worried about them making a big deal about that and whether marriage by proxy is ok??. Please let me know what you guys think and if anyone had a personal experience like that. Your comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks ,

Ali
