ok now my question is this, it will be 2 years since my marriage on jan 29 2008, my wife's interview date is on Jan 28 2008. does that mean she will get the Conditional green card or the 10 year green card.

Once the immigration process is completed and your spouse has entered US grounds, the green card is mailed to you within 3-4 weeks. That green card is valid for up to 10years however there is a condition. After 3 years of receiving your green card, you will be contacted again to see if you are still married legally and that this was not a fake marriage or something. Than that same green card becomes permanent. my thoughts for you would be once your spouse has lived in US for the x number of months that are needed to file for your passport than go ahead and do that. This way you will be tension free of green card and wouldn't need to worry about how long it is valid or not.

I believe you have to inform the USCIS to lift the condition from your case after two years. I would try to find that info, or try calling USCIS what needs to be done to be on safe side.

Gohar congrats on you visa packet and thank you for keeping us all updated on the progress.

Thanks & good luck with you process.

Sallam Everyone,

Here is a checklist of what is needed for the K1 Visa. I'm not sure how this check list compares to the IR1/CR1 Visas but I'm sure someone else on this forum may be able to comment!! This is what my fiancee got from ISL Embassy.

Just wanted to conbribute back to the same ones that have helped me!

Hope this helps!

Goodluck!

Dear everyone,

Alhamdulillah, I'm so happy that my wife finally received Packet 4 from embassy this weekend. Her interview is scheduled for Feb 5 08. Please pray for us that it goes well!

I have few questions on the checklist embassy sent that my wife should bring at interview:

1. copy of tax return ? Is this going to be the copy of 2007 tax return or can she take the current copy that I sent her for year 2006?

2. Does it have to be the copy of tax return or would transcripts from IRS do?

3. Pettitioner's old passport?

Asmo,

It took almost month from the time when NVC sent the packet to ISL. Oh one thing that I should clear to you is that you will get packet 4 only with interview date and you will have to take docs with you at the time of interview. Also, you have to get medical and all this info is sent in this P4. I was confused too on whether I will get P3 then I send embassy docs and upon reviewing they will send P4 but that's not the case for K3 (may be for K1).

Hope this helps for future K3'rs.

Thanks Rainbow for quick response. I am on CR1. For K3, I know embassy only sends one packet which is p4. For me I will receive p3 than p4. I hope i won't have to wait a MONTH to get p3. Good luck to all of us
