Hello People! I guess today IS a day for celebration!! I called DOS this morning and they said that our security clearance has completed!! since the 27th of June! So, according to that its already been a lil more than a week since the clearance was done. How long should be wait before calling Isl embassy? Andddd ... when should we expect our passport to arrive? We are soooo excited and scared at the same time, hoping keh we DO get our visa soon!

BTW ... Congrats to Zaki, KJO, and Zayed!!! Inshallah all of us will get our visas in hand soon!!

Thanks desparado, Inshallah you will get your visa very soon.

Desparado,

If you want to try and call them do so but I know when I was in the processing calling the embassy was a joke. I was put on hold transferred to endless ringing and no one answering the phones. When I emailed them I had a reply the next day or the second day at the latest. Good luck.

I really agree with Mary on this one. Any communication with the embassy should really be by email. I have also found that calling DOS is helpful and gives some indication of what may be going on at the Embassy, mostly just clues, but it is better than being totally in the dark. It seems they update an interagency database fairly regularly. And they can tell you limited information in advance of what you may hear from the embassy.

Hope this is helpful.

hmmm... I agree with you guys about calling. I have been calling the embassy ... some days are better than others. My fiance emailed them like 3times and 2/3 time he never got any reply. But I will try emailing tonight and if no response by Thursday then I will try calling them. Thanks alot you guys for your input!!

KJO ... since our cases are VERY VERY similar .. I was wondering if you contacted the embassy and what did they say about sending the visa... and about how long it would take ...

Desparado - the major difference in our cases is that my fiance is Afghan so sending his passport in is not really an option. He will have to just stay in ISL while they process it. So we are hoping that we impress upon them that it would be nice to do it quickly.

Mary - any word from your Afghan friend who applied for a CR-1?

Emailed embassy to check the status of case on monday and another email on tuesday, no reply yet. Are they quick in replying? I tried calling on monday and tuesday, i followed the voice prompts and at the end it said all operators are busy, try again later, I dont think I can get hold of them on the phone.

Normally they replied next day. Please mention your case number in subject line. Whenever i mention other than case number in subject line i receive very late reply or even not receive any reply.

I always tried to send email from 2 different email id's. It works for me.

KJO no word yet from the man I have been helping with his CR1. In the past he only posts on Thursday or Fridays and am hoping to hear good news from him shortly as well.

Zaki is correct about emailing them to make sure you have all the pertinent information on your email so they can get back to you quickly. Always got my responses back in one to two days whether they were nice or not LOL until I had the senator step in and ask about the AP (which I did not know what it was at the time).

Good news keep on coming this way.

Mary

I have had some luck in contacting the embassy thru phone. Here is what you should do: Call them AFTER 12:30 pm ... ofcourse THEIR 12:30pm. Call the 208-2121 number. I had luck with this number while my fiance had luck with the 208-2700 number. They key is to call after 12:30pm. They dont discuss visa stuff before that. And try calling around 1 or 2. Good luck!

Has anyone had their wife get approved for K-3 and lives in Karachi area? I was wondering how my wife will be notified to get her passport at AMX (Shaheen Complex), or do they deliver it to her home?

Another question. I heard about some getting a sealed envelope to bring to the us with them. What's the deal with that? Does everyone get it, and what's in it?

Everyone gets a sealed brown envelope to hand over at the time of POE. It is all the paperwork for your case so that you can AOS or lift conditions depending on your visa. You do not open the one with all the documents and must give it to the POE officer sealed.
