I-134.

A friend of mine needs to send I-134 for his wife which hopefully will have an interview in June for her K-3 visa. I think I have seen a sample of I-134 on this forum, would somebody tell me which page I can find it or jsut paste the link on this page? Also, if your taxable income is lower than poverty line, can embassy accept it or they must ask for co-sponsor. Does the cash surrender value on I-134 counts or embassy just go by the tax return amount?

ALI

Here is sample link:

http://www.visajourney.com/examples/I-134-exp-04-30-07.pdf

If the taxable income is lower then the poverty line you might be better off getting a co-sponsor and sorry i don't have any idea about the second part of your question

It says N/A on #11 cuz (k1 visa), the same thing will apply for k-3 too. My friend had also filed I-134 for his freind seven years ago, should he put about that in #9 or leave it N/A because it has been seven years.

I would still put in the information for number 9, as if they find it in the records they won't like it.

For 11 I checked the intend and wrote N/A ( K3 Spousal visa for permanent residence )

Thank you very much MaryandMian and KHURRAM SERAJ for the information. I think i am pretty late to apply for the K-3 visa now as my wife's interview is in June. About a month and a half left. Hopefully everything goes OK inshallah. By looking at different people's responses, it seems that females are getting the visa same day or in about 1-2 weeks. Another question, I heard from some one that if the person is coming on PIA after the visa, they need the transit visa for UK because there is a stopover in Manchester UK. Called PIA and the person there told that if the US visa is stamped then pessenger wont need the UK transit visa, but if the visa is not stamped on the passport then transit visa is needed. If thats the case, is this I-130 visa stamped on the passport or not. Because if we need visa then I might start preparations for that also.

Thanks

Direct Airside Transit Visa

If you are one of the passport holders listed below and will transit the UK airside (i.e. Mumbai-London Heathrow London Heathrow-New York, and not Mumbai-London Heathrow and then London Gatwick-New York destination, staying in the UK less than 24 hours), you require a Direct Airside Transit Visa to transit the United Kingdom. This is the case even if you only intend to remain airside and will not pass through UK Immigration. AFGHANISTAN, ALBANIA, ALGERIA, ANGOLA, BANGLADESH, BELARUS, BURMA (MYANMAR), BURUNDI, CAMEROON, PEOPLES REPUBLIC OF CHINA, COLOMBIA, DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO (ZAIRE), ECUADOR, ERITREA, ETHIOPIA, GAMBIA, GHANA, INDIA, IRAN, IRAQ, IVORY COAST, KENYA, LEBANON, LIBERIA, MACEDONIA, MOLDOVA, NEPAL, NIGERIA, PAKISTAN, PALESTINIAN AUTHORITY, RWANDA, SENEGAL, SERBIA AND MONTENEGRO, SIERRA LEONE, SOMALIA, SRI LANKA, SUDAN, TANZANIA, TURKEY, TRNC, UGANDA, VIETNAM, YUGOSLAVIA, ZAIRE (FORMERLY DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO), ZIMBABWE.

Please note however that if you are transiting en route to the Republic of Ireland, and you are a national of one of the countries above, you will require a visit visa and the exemptions below do not apply.

Exemptions: You are exempt from this requirement if:

1.You hold a valid US or Canadian visa and your ticketing includes a visit to the US or Canada.

2.You are in possession of an onward ticket for travel by air via the UK when leaving the US or Canada within 6 months of your last date of entry to the US or Canada with a valid US/Canadian visa [Which includes K1,K3 and CR1 - even if you have the valid packet with the visa stamp on it].

3.You hold a USA Permanent Resident Card issued on or after 21 April 1998. To calculate this subtract ten years from the expiration date on your Alien Registration Card.

4.You hold a Canadian Permanent Resident Cardissued on or after 28 June 2002.

5.You hold a valid Category D visa(normally printed on a red/pink sticker, green stickers do not qualify) issued by EU/EEA member states, which are valid for more than 3 months.

6.You hold a valid EU residence permit.

You will not need to get a transit visa unless you plan on going outside the aiport.

Thanks much for the detailed reply.

As you can read in this letter (last item) sent to my wife, you can pay in either currencies as long as you bring exact change.

Hey KHURRAM

Is getting I-129 so quick? From the timeline you entered, it seems you filed I-129 at the end of January and your wife's interview is at the end of May, only 4 Months. Why didnt I know that  . I filed I-130 in July last year and my wife's interview is at the end of June. Is there any wait to get the visa after the interview in case of I-130 or can it be same day. one week or two weeks??

Chicago no one can tell you how long it will take for the visa to ajudicate they hardly give out same day (it does happen) but most cases they are sending out via courrier within days unless your case goes into AR/AP. Cases vary at how fast they process in the states as well. Some K3 cases fly thru which is what happened with KJ but some take longer. My k3 and I-130 were approved within one week of each other and ended up at Islamabad within days and the embassy cancelled my K3 and followed thru with the I-130.

Everything I respond to is from personal knowledge, research or experience and I am in no means a lawyer or do I claim to be one. Everyone should read, research and be responsible for your own journey.
