Desparado, Welcome to VJ and glad to hear that your fiance had his interview and is now awaiting Administrative Processing. I will say that almost all men endure AP and that their is no time frame and no one can give you an exact time limit for their checks to be completed. Common names, travels, job experience or schooling all effect AP. My husband and I knew each other for two years, then married, he never traveled out of Pakistan and we had tons of proof. He also was interviewed and was very easy interview, joking and was given two papers ( one blue and one white and the white CO did not take his passport) and told our case just needed some AP and hopefully he would have his visa in 30-45 days; at this time not much was spoken of AP and I was scared and yet hopeful he would be here in 30 -45 days but this did not happen and it depressed me. So do not set dates that can come and go -- make all generalized plans. AP is a dark hole and no one will tell you anything during this time since it is security checks and or fraud investigations until they are ready to ajudicate or deny the visa. In our case his interview was 12/12/05 and was put on AP and embassy did not ajudicate the visa until 05/10/06 which was shy of 5 months.

Please stay positive and do not dwell on this issue daily since you can become depressed stressing over the what is going on? Good luck and see that there are others in your same situation and a few of us old timers as I call us that are reunited and still come to inform, support and wait on our next steps in our journies.

Mary

Welcome Desperado!

We waited about 4 months on A/P. Some take longer :( . I do remember that earlier this year, rkhalid was only on A/P for 2 months :D .

Mary is right, do not set dates. They will come and go and make things worse. After calling the DOS to check on our status at least 3-4 times a week for 3 months, I decided to stop the madness and call them only on Wednesdays. Funny thing is, even though I checked all the time, my hubby knew we were off A/P before me... the DOS customer service did not know he was off of A/P until the day the Embassy sent my husband a request to return to finish the process. I had to wait 2 hours for the DOS to open the morning after my husband called with the good news to confirm the security clearance finale.

I can't find the number for the Dept of State that I used to call... hopefully someone here will have it. After about 2 weeks you can call and find out how the sec check is going. Don't expect too many details.. more like "The case is still pending"

Good luck.. hope it goes fast for you guys!

Department of State aka DOS

1-202-663-1225 and listen for the prompts since they change often. Last time I called 1 and then O to talk to a live operator. I also found that calling on Wednesday afternoon or Thursday am was the time that they had updates from the embassy.

When you call have petitioners information like ISL XXXX number, full name, date of birth and your information.

Hi Desperado,

I want to ask you that your fiance got a white paper also in which it is written you are put under administrative process. I was also told by the consulor officer that they need to do background checking and they also give me a pink slip staple with a list of american express offices and circling around the lahore office that keep in contact and it may take month or months. Do response me that your fiance also got that letter of administrative processing

thanks

So Ghattiya, Nair1 and myself also on ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING.

ZAKI

I hope u get the appointment letter by hand keep in touch and wish u good luck again for the interview.

I went today to collect my letter i make a mistake that i went very early. I sat outside embassy from 8:30am to 12:30pm then i went inside and again waited for 1 hour. At the end the lady gave me letter just in 2 minutes.

The other thing that at my home village they sent the letter as well but i also collected it from embassy. Infect i was wanted not to take any risk.

I meet one guy there with CR1 visa he was rejected as insuffient proofs. He told me that he has all the details including pictures, cards, email print outs. One thing he told me that he met american girl on internet and then married in 2004. She lived with him only 2 weeks he also told me that CO told me that you married for GC only. He was so disappointed. Mostly ladies approved give one or more week to wait for their visa.

Please pray for me tomorrow interview.

Thanks

Zaki

Yesterday i was watching VOA (VOICE OF AMERICA) programme in GEO. It comes daily on GEO at 0730pm PAKISTAN TIME. There was a special programme on indian students also who are coming to the state for better education and how indian students portray their culture and american too participate in it so it is something nice to hear it and it would have been much better if we could see about the PAKISTAN students or they too had to go this stringent procedure of getting a student visa. Its all about news from america in urdu dialect and it was said from today the americans rechecking all the muslims who got their green card.

So all are friends of visa journey who are in america do they hear something on this. I hope all the muslim who got green card must be a valid one then why its been scrutinized again and i hope our friends who are in state got a answer for that and let us know why its been doing again.

When i read posts at visa journey what thing despair me that some people get their visa in a week or so like philipines or other europeon countries but in Pakistan u had to pass this PROLONG AP and i dont understand what the hard and fast rules of that some get in 02 months some in 04 to 06 months and some to go even to year. I wish it should not take so long and all those who are on waiting list including me get to their destination and reunion soon.

THANKS

How can I have my name check expedited?

The FBI tries to process its oldest name checks first. Customer agencies will occasionally request expedited handling of specific name checks. Criteria used to determine which name checks receive expedited handling are internal matters of each customer agency. The FBI does request that the number of expedited cases be kept to a minimum in fairness to the other pending name check requests. Because each customer agency determines which name checks are expedited, contacting Congressional representatives, the FBI's Office of Congressional Affairs, or the NNCP will only further tie up vital resources and will not contribute to the expediting of a name check.

Does contacting my Congressional representative expedite my name check?

No, the customer agency determines expedited handling. The FBI's policy is to be responsive to our customer's needs given the limits of our resources. Re-prioritization from multiple sources would convolute the customer agency's ability to manage their priority cases.

Is there a fee I can pay to expedite the process?

No. Processing times are a function of the volume of work versus the resources that can be applied to the task. Paying an additional fee would not speed up the name check process.

I am aware that some name checks have been completed that were submitted to the FBI after cases that remain pending. Why are the name checks not handled in the order in which they are received?

The vast majority of name check requests are completed in less than 60 days. Of those remaining, the FBI tries to complete the oldest name checks first. The time to complete any given name check varies. There are many factors that impact processing times such as the number of files to retrieve and review, a file's location and accessibility, case status, and workload all impact processing times. Another factor that might delay the processing of a name check request on a first in/first out basis is the number of requests for expedited handling received from a customer agency.

My Freedom of Information/Privacy Act request to the FBI resulted in a "no record" response. Given that, why is my name check request still pending?

Freedom of Information and Privacy Acts (FOIPA) requests are sometimes confused with name check requests. FOIPA provides copies of FBI files relevant to a specific FOIPA request. For FOIPA, the FBI search uses the name or information as provided in the FOIPA request. A FOIPA search determines whether there is an investigative file associated with an individual—a "main file" search. For a name check, "main files" and "reference files" are both checked, in an effort to protect our national security, in addition to searching a name in a multitude of combinations.

Who can I call to check on the status of my name check?

The FBI will only respond to status inquiries from its customer agencies. Please contact the organization receiving your original application. In Citizenship and Immigration cases, contact USCIS for the status.

Hello Dear members,

Here is my interview story. I reach embassy 8 am and shortly i cross all security checks and when inside with my wife. After half an hour my name called i went window number 5 and submit my passport and the guy ask me choice of language in which i want to be interviewd. Waiting again for almost half an hour then called on window no. 6. Me and my wife went there and a lady wellcomes my wife in embassy and ask me few questions..

Are you relatives ?

How your family know each other ?

If i travelled outside pakistan?

Who is co sponser to you ?

After that she replied please wait we will call you again shortly.

After waiting 15 minutes my name called on window number 3 where an CO was waiting, he loudly said ASLAM-O-ALKUM, kia haal chaal hain aap kay in urdu. He was smiling. He told my wife to go sit as he want interview with me. Then the questions starts...

Who is petitioning you?

Where your wife lives?

What kind of job she is doing ?

When you married ?

Are you both relatives ?

How your family meet each other for marriage ?

When was my nikah and when was rukhsati ?

How many people attend both functions ?

Why there is long gap between nikah and rukhsati?

Tell me any interesting thing about your wife during your nikah ?

Show my both function's pictures.

He saw all pictures and pointing where i was drinking milk.

What is my job?

At the end he said congratulations and wellcome to the United states. He repeated this twice, but also give me the pink slip and told me wait for 2 to 4 months. I said my wife is going back to US next week and she is pregnant. He ask me in which month she is i told him, he said don't worry you will be there when the baby will born. He said minimum 2 months upto 4 months.

So my AP starts from today. My wife was lilttle dissappointed as she wanted to go with me back to US and not any single question asked from her.

Thanks for all of your help and answers. I think it is the time to celebrate. Now waiting when my AP will end.

Morning Zaki,

It looks like your interview went very well. I understand your wifes disappointment, I too had to say goodbye to my husband at the very crowded ISL airport shortly after the interview :crying:. Congrats on the baby and successful interview. I hope you're here in time to see the birth of your baby.
