My wife contacted the state dept and they said that they will follow up the request with the relavant agencies. She also contacted the congressman and they said that they will contact us as soon as they hear something from the state dept.

Should I call the embassy and ask them or no? I emailed them and they said STILL PENDING. Please let me know with you best advice so I can her know what to do next.

Thanks alot!

just call DOS ... maybe call DOS once per week.. so you dont go insane!

contacting the embassy will be fruitless. because the case is pending at the DOS. right now the DOs is fairly clueless because, they get a request about a security check..

the security checks PING PONG to all the various agencys. its like a big shot in the dark!.

once the clearance comes in .. DOS then creates a report.. this report is then sent to Embassy..

if there are ERRORS in the report.. another security check is ordered..

then once cleared again... then DOS creates yet another report and sends to the embasssy..

once the embassy sees no ERRORs. then its COMPLEATE.. then this hell is over..

mean while its ONE BIG cycle..

DOS>>> security checks >>>>> DOS Creates report >>> sends to embassy >>> < repeat 1001 times if there are errors >.

Hey Shon Thanks and Happy Birthday!

Actually a going on.... my brother in law has been on AP for more than 6 months now in Islamabad.

Reading through this forum I came to know so many Pakistani is going through this process.

Do you think that having an attorney would help this case to speed up the process .

the embassy is in the process of sending us a letter for the things they are requesting. but, we all know what its like waiting at the hands of the embassy. so I suspect they will take 3 more weeks to type the dayum letter.. dayum embassy.. so mean while back at the ranch. javed is calling them reminding them to type the letter..

Having an attorney wont speed up anything. unless your case is complexed or if you have emergency issues.

AP/ AR is for males 16 years old and up. primarly. but, ladies can be on Ap/AR too.

AP/AR is not just for ISL - other embassys are forced to place people on this as well.

the reasons for AP/AR are many..some are

1. name hits

2. name and birtdate hits

3. where a person lived, has lived or visted

4. work history factors - such as those in certain jobs

5. educational factors - studies you have taken

plus 1001 other reasons..

Shon. It is very strange that they are typing this letter, usually they just send a letter out calling u to the embassy and then tell you what you need right there then and then. You sure your AP is done?!

I finally got an update to both my visas pending. I got the interview date which will be updated to CR-1, Alhamdulilah.

All praise is due to Allah, the All-Mighty!

The day is drawing closer and closer...

I am leaving to Pakistan in less than two weeks now as well...

Is it a good idea to be at the interview with my wife?

People with experience, please advise...

Also what do they ask, and what do you take?

I think you need to take:

emails, pics, DVDs, cards, letters

anything that can prove you have a relationship.

also

if you added her to anything - take proof of it..

example..

I added my husband to my legal insurance, medical benifits and added his name

to a few subcriptions i had.. :) this helps..

if you have 401k , profit sharing , stocks, bonds, etc.. Print out the balance this helps too..:)

Thanks Bunny!

I like how you said it's a "hellish" process. Cuz you're damn right it is.

I can't believe how you have survived years through it.

It's affected me so much that I've been to the hospital a couple of times and am currently on medication now.

BTW happy birthday, Bunny! :D

you are filing K-3

the embassy is slow as hell - trying to send out packets in that..

in the packet you will find several things..

1.. a check list of things your wife will need. dont PANIC you will proble have 3-6 months til your interview.

2.. there will be an interview date in the packet.

3.. there will be a long DR list for you

4.. it takes the embassy about 1 month to send the packet because, they are slow as hell

5.. as far as a bank statement. I went online and PRINTED off 1 years worth of transactions.

I also went online printed off a copy of my 401K / Profit sharing.

6. letter verification only needs to be something like : you worked X years or days

and you make xx amount of dollers per year. it has to be on letter head.

jsut go to the HR department or your manager they should have a TEMPLATE. dont FREAK out!!

anyways the packet will explain things. also make sure your address is updated with the embassy. my husband was using a village address. its better to use a business address..

if you can.
