ok...so like i said...my husband had the k3 interview...the interviewer was really friendly...they kept his passport...gave him some paper with the embassy's contact info on it...told him he would get the visa in a few days.

so today i call isl embassy just because it sounded too good to be true...so the 'visa expert' on the phone tells me your husband is undergoing administrative review....naturally i asked 'how long does that take?' her response...'there is no set time for it but it is usually a minimum of 3 months and is nothing to worry about because 95% of male applicants are subject to review'

now why on earth would they keep his passport if they aren't going to issue him a visa for at least 3 months??????

who do i believe? the lady on the phone or the interviewer? my husband is convinced he'll get it within the next week or two. i'm not so sure now...

yes thats exactly what they did with him...took his passport and gave him a token and a phone number/address for fed ex.

address for AMEX .. not FEDEX.

AMEX is the courier that will send the passport. we already had a false alarm from

them. they tell us the visa is ready turned out it was a bunch of paper work for

the K-3. :(

anyways why dont you call DOS and ask the status of your case?

202 663 1225

press options 1,0,4,3,0

have handy the case number ISL200

and the aliens DOB.

DOS has to clear ALL AP/AR cases!!!!!

as we told you before all AP/AR cases are no time limit.

it can last 17 days - 2 years. right now he is proble going Local

clearances, then after that will have the other security checks ordered.

the good news is they did not order FULL set of finger prints on your

husband. that would Add 3 months more to your already long case.

thanks for the DOS info...I had no idea about all this

Anyway, I called DOS. they said they haven't yet received 'the list of checks' from the embassy that they are supposed to run. he had his interview on friday, and its monday so i can understand why they haven't yet received any info. they told me to call back in a week and they would have all his information...as in which checks are to be performed. she said it usually takes 1-3 months but can be quicker. i'm thinking they probably didn't require many checks for my husband because we've been married since dec 2004 and because the interviewer told him it would only be a matter of days...i dont know...maybe i'm just hoping for that...

Well well well!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I need to speak now............................

Sabah your hubby didn't get 221(g) that means he is not on AP/AR. INSHA ALLAH.

That also means that DOS won't have any info on him. Why would you need to talk to DOS and inquire about security checks when no one ever told you there are any that needs to be done???????????????

If they needed security checks they wouldn't be afraid to ask for fingerprints.

When they keep the passport and tell you to wait to receive it in mail, hopefully that passport comes with a visa on it. INSHA ALLAH.

AMEX is the courier company that delivers visa in large cities like Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad. For other cities, TCS is used in Pakistan.

So be optimistic, and positive, and THANK ALLAH SUBHANAHU WA TA'AALA that they didn't put him on AP/AR and plan for his homecoming, INSHA ALLAH.

Meanwhile, wife had medical done, ALHAMDULILLAH Everything went ok.

ohhh so give it 1 -3 months .

the embassy is slow on issuing the checks..

but call often to the DOS once time has passed..

they dont know at the embassy -because DOS has to send clearance

to embassy for ALL AP/AR cases. me and my husband been married that long too.

they still put is through the ringer. 1 check takes about 90days or less.

see K-1 get certain checks, CR1- get certain checks, IR1 get certain checks.

they also kept my husbands passpport and gave him a token..

Does anybody know what it means if my husband was asked for prints but did not get the 221(g) form? I tried to call the DOS today but they were already closed. I will try again tomorrow. I thought this admin review stuff wasn't supposed to be as complicated for the K3 visas as for the I-130.

Finally the visa arrived at AMEX. I got it yesterday. And the visa is issued. After the Rome US embassy aproved my waiver in mid July. The PAki US embassy asked for clearances from Khi and Lhr. And updated medical report. Which I submitted last week. The visa officer instantly told me the visa/waiver is approved. And the visa can be issued. Yesterday I collected my passport. With the token received at the Embassy. So easy and simple was the last step. And no interrogation. Nothing.........

NOw its time to plan the journey back to the US. Where wife and daughter awaits my arrival.

Thank you for all your updates and suggestions. And thank you to all the people who shared their stories with me in the group. I 'd like to thank the visa journey for making one place for fellow immigration processees to meet at one place and share their views and updates at one place with around the world regardless of where they are.

Visa is approved. Time to get back to the US.
