Hi everyone,

I am little bit confused. My wife has changed her name after sending the papers to NVC, becuase NVC told us name should reflect marriage. Name change happend after I send the DS-230 to NVC.

Now She got Packet 3.5 from embassy and they are asking again DS230, now which name I should use.

married or unmarried. All her correspondence from embassy + NVC are on maiden name.

Thank you

Sham

[qoute]sham i would email embassy, but i believe you would put her new name in the first question. and her maiden name or previous name on the question number 2 on ds230

sham which visa is your wife now going for. k3 or cr1?

she is going for CR1 visa and btw I called the embassy the rep told me user her passport name, meaning married name.

Thanks for the help.

Leona,

This is great news! :D Congrats on getting a closer date and wishing you all the best on the remainder of your journey. At the time of POE it should be an IR1 but I do know of one case that they did a CR1 and the wife contacted NVC and explained the error. The gentleman had to send in his CR1 and some copies and they reissued the card to reflect IR status.

Mary

Everything I respond to is from personal knowledge, research or experience and I am in no means a lawyer or do I claim to be one. Everyone should read, research and be responsible for your own journey.

Thanks for your congrats, and for letting me know that my husband should get IR1 at POE if he is coming after Nov1st, our anniversary, which is most likely to be the case. (inshAllah)

Anyway, i did want to ask though that does it matter that i have never changed my name on my passport? i mean, i changed my name on my driver's license, on my SS card and every where else, just not my passport, because i was always needing it with me and didn't have time to change it...doesn't it cost like 60$ to change it? ...anyway i was just curious to know if i "have " to change it or not  ...thankyou. ok, why do i have to change my name for my husband to get his visa? that is what i was curious to know

or can i just wait to change it, i mean i already traveled on it as leona williams, but as khalid, i just have my marriage certificate with me to show that i am married now, but my passport hasn't been changed yet.

Ok, so how much does it cost to be changed, i mean can you tell me what to do, i read some stuff on the website but it's confusing,

but in the end, i don't "have" to have it changed in order for my husband to get his visa right? because i do have other forms of ID that show it is changed, like drivers license and ss card

you dont need to change your name- for him to get a visa.

you only need to make sure your IDs all match PRIOR to travel.

other wise you will be stuck.

Hello again,

My husband wanted me to ask what should he expect at his medical examination in Islamabad. Thankyou for your input.

Leona

Hi,

Congratulations on getting the earlier interview date. Now these next few months can be devoted to the AP/AR nonsense instead of waiting on an interview. My husband had his medical exam for the K-3 but they only required a normal physical I believe. For your husband's exam I am sure he will be getting a physical plus all of the required vaccinations and an AIDS test I guess.
