My husband has his K3 interview scheduled for Sept 1st. Hooray!! The problem is that he got the letter late last week and I had to scramble to get documents together again (all the ones required on the previous I-129F and I-130 petitions that had previously been approved and a signed and notarized I-134). The problem is that my husband is having problems getting his police report in time for the interview next week from Lahore which is where he used to live. Apparently they are extremely slow. Luckily he has his police report from Islamabad where he lives now. What happens if he doesn't get the police report from Lahore in time for the interview? The embassy has to realize what a slow process it is to get a police report from there, right? Any answers would be appreciated. Thanks.

I have the same questions you do. It would be nice to know what embassy does when someone doesnt get Police report in time.

Can you please post your timeline? Or at least NOA2 for I-129F date

well a police clearance from Lahore is required. i would get the report, if you are not able to get the report. Go to the interview without it, if the officer over looks the report well and good but if they ask for it, let them know that you tried but were not able to get the report at this time.

They will give u a blue letter. Which means that you can return to the embassy any time without appointment and submit what they asked for!

I agree with Michigan...your husband needs that police report from Lahore. Ask your husband if he knows anyone in the police dept or if he willing to pay some money to get it early....those are the only 2 ways he can get something ASAP.....goood luck!

If your husband works little harder and explain in detail to a big wig of Lahore police department then it wouldn’t be a problem. Lahore police department knows the urgency and the importance of this document because every single immigrant visa applicant needs it and they (police department) process at least dozens of reports on daily or weekly basis.

I am sure he will get this report in a day or two inshallah. Best of luck

michigan reply is almost right

You can go through the interview without a report

But i will suggest you to inform them right in the begining about the discrepancy.

You can submit the report afterward as well.

He paid them a lot of extra money and even stayed there for a few days in hopes that he would get it in time but no luck still. Oh well, he will just have to explain that this was the best he could do. They didn't give him the right amount of time for him to properly get the stuff that he needed. Does anyone have updates on security clearance times? I heard that they may be going a little faster, maybe 2 months or so. Also, does it help to have an attorney? I mean would that do anything to make the security clearance go a little faster?

Re: K3 paperwork

Hafiz, has your hardcopy arrived at the embassy or just the electronic file.

In my case the electronic file arrived two weeks ago from NVC but according to ISL embassy they are waiting for the hardcopy before proceeding. Any idea how long this takes? Thanks

Having an attorney does not help expedite security clearances. I have an attorney. Usually electronic file is very quickly followed by the physical file. It should be there any day

you could track the dates of the DHL diplomatic pouches from NVC.

put start date of * day your case is compleate - present date

then check all shipments to ISL. once your confident in guessing what one is yours..

< they dont send DHL shipments daily > its done weekly roughly. then allow 2

weeks to allow the embassy to match up your hard copies up and place it in the system.
