Hi,

My wife is getting ready for her solo interview in montreal(april 20), and we are getting the copys of documents and everything ready for the interview, and we have a question for anyone who has had their K-3 intervie in montreal.

What all did you take to the interview besides the forms and required documents. I know she doesn't want to take too much stuff with her but should she take photos and cards(no envelopes, didn't think to save them at the time) and things like that?

J

I had a cr-1 interview in Mtl. Staff are great. I took evidence, such as a few pics, travel receipts, I had her listed on my insurance. They never asked to see any of it, but best to have a bit I think. The interview for me was very short, only a few minutes and very basic questions such as, how we met, where my wifes works, where i work, what do I plan to do in USA, when I was moving down. Best of luck

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

and remember, (unless security measures have changed since) she will not be allowed to carry any kind of large bag with her into the consulate. No backpacks, no tote bags, no briefcase etc etc...when I went, I saw quite a few people told they have to store their bags elsewhere and then come back carrying everything in a plastic shopping bag. Also, I was told I was not allowed to take in a photoalbum, but then I argued with the guard asking why then am I asked to bring photo evidence of my relationship :P

Don't carry too much stuff, and don't bother with a huge scrapbook or even small photoalbum, just put a few things into a manilla envelope and whatever safely can be carried in a plastic grocery bag. During my interview I was asked for only one wedding photo anyway, and there's such a small space to push things under a window, a whole photo album won't fit anyhow.

divorced - April 2010 moved back to Ontario May 2010 and surrendered green card

PLEASE DO NOT PRIVATE MESSAGE ME OR EMAIL ME. I HAVE NO IDEA ABOUT CURRENT US IMMIGRATION PROCEDURES!!!!!
