1. As a student I applied for OPT and received an A-Number. Can I use this number on all my green card forms?

2. My birth certificate didn't have my name on it AND my mother's name is misspelt. So I am having a new one being done in India, but it looks like that may take some time. My plan is to still apply before the month end to avoid the higher fees. I would probably get a RFI. My question is, should I even include the original birth certificate which has no name, and mother's name spelt wrong? Or should I just send in my application without the birth certificate. Also, when I do get an RFI, do I need to pay anything additional when sending the requested information then?

Thanks!

Pretty sure you use the same A number, it will identify you as having been in their system and is obviously linked to your name, so I would assume you would use it (I think I've heard this before too).

Honestly, I would think you should submit the original birth certificate. It is originally what would classify as your birth certificate, although I've never heard of a birth certificate without someones name! Was that a mistake (just curious)? I have heard that packages have been sent back for being incomplete as far as missing checks, but I do not know if a birth certificate would be something that would trigger a send back, I'd think it would just trigger an RFE. Just be aware, that should you get an RFE (whether it be because you sent the incomplete BC or didn't send one at all), that you only have a certain amount of time to send it back (87 days I think) before your app will be denied, so if the BC in India will take longer than that (assuming you get the RFE quickly), you would have a problem on your hands.
