Hello Everyone,

My fiancé had his interview in Aug. in Ankara Turkey. In the interview the Co told him that he was approved. On Sept. 6 the ceac status changed from immigrant to nonimmigrant with new creation date. That dat the ceac status also showed "Approved" and that he should receive his visa in 10 days. On sept 14, the status changed to refused and we received the ds- 5535 in the email. I have been reading lots of stories about the form and that it can take a year to resolve. Does anyone know how long it might take. Would you guys share your experience with this process.

The form itself has no significant processing time.  But it is used to run background checks, which can take weeks to months.

Unfortunately, your fiance's name must have triggered an alert.  They will use the information you provide on the form to do an investigation to make sure your fiance is not the same person that is on their list, or related to that person.
