And who could blame you?

What's in the contract that you signed?  Verbal assurances mean nothing, when stuff is in writing.

I truly believe that some attorneys have kickback agreements with the pharmaceutical companies that manufacture blood-pressure medications.

My contract says for I-360 and AoS. I even have a welcome to the firm email sent to me from them that details the payment structure and what I’m paying for and it say’s attorney fees for I-360 and I-485 is $4,000 and you will pay $1,225 for I-485 when we get to submitting it.

Now this paralegal is sending me this whole sheet of how they have done so much for my case including updates with the court and has broken all the fees down to show that I have used up $4,900 up to now. I’m not with the BS to be honest. I am so mad at their nerve. It’s not like my being in removal was a secret. I told her straight at the  consultation and my previous attorney who represented me and my husband called her to ask her to take my Vawa case. So updating the court goes without saying and shouldn’t be made into this whole thing of we did extra work for you blah blah BS

I was not aware fees would change mid process and they would scrutinize everything and break fees down.

I have asked her twice now to schedule a meeting with the attorney herself and she’s being hesitant on doing it.

I’m sorry for the long rant and my language but I am just boiling inside.

You guys, I need thoughts on this. Based on things I've seen here, I thought this was a VAWA approval but now I'm not sure. My understanding is that "the card" is usually a C31 EAD card that is issued with VAWA approval and this is later converted to a C9 card. Because I filed I-485 before I-360, I have just been renewing the C9 card I got with the 485. My most recent C9 EAD came in March 2022 and is good until 2024.

What card is this? IF it is the C31, will it invalidate my C9? My I-485 status has not changed since my lawyer requested interview rescheduling. Here's my timeline if it's helpful. It's not very elaborate because I don't recall all the dates but it should give enough of an idea, I think.

August 2019: Filed I-485 as spouse to US citizen. Did not submit medicals.

Received C9 EAD I think Dec 2019.

Feb 2020: Interview scheduled

March 2020: Interview rescheduled due to covid

Sept 2020: Interview scheduled

Sept 2020: Filed I-360, requested interview to be rescheduled and I-485 to be held in abeyance.

Have received multiple prima facies since filing, most recent one was literally two weeks ago. Lawyer is currently on PTO so I won't get an answer until Monday.

Any input would be so appreciated! I almost cried with excitement and now I'm not too sure what this means or how it will affect employment.

Congrats your vawa is approved. Your status may change to approved, or it may not change and you’ll just receive approval notice in mail like me. Congrats and rejoice

You're actually being rather restrained. :)

Some of these contracts have "we will do ___ at the rate of $50 every 10 minutes" or similar.

When your retainer is exhausted, you have to keep paying more and more and more.

Their commitments to efficiency and proactivity are not included in these contracts. :(

Will PM you with a couple of possible alternatives.

Yes i-765 but the receipt number is c31 as i applied two different forms c31 and c09.
so the approval shows receipt # from my c31 case with c09 category  and the receipt date is also from c31

i submitted c31 in feb 2022 and c09 in sep 2022

Let’s say my receipt number for c31 is EADXYZ dated 02/2022

and i never got receipts for c09 submitted in sep 2022

so approval notice i got says we approved your i-765 with receipt #EADXYZ dated 02/2022 but category is c09

I did. I put c31 in that feb one and put c09 in sep one

but i do not understand why they use receipt # from my c31 and never sent noa1 for c09

or is it what they normally do just merge the receipts ##? 🤷🏻‍♀️

That is strange but take it at least you got your EAD.

Is it valid for 1 year or 2?
