I have seen quite a few cases like your recently. It most likely they forgot to do background check and now you are their, Dont worry, you will be fine, May i know your dates?

Thank you so much for sharing the experience, I am dying to see my parents, its been 8 years, I am May 2020 with 2 RFE's and currently my case is stuck in background check, Wait is frustrating because i need to travel and i can not. :( I guess someday i will just book the ticket and fly home, screw this process, if they want to deny me, let them,

If you have AP, you may go ahead and travel to see them; if you do not, I will encourage you to not just leave, apply for 1 (AP) and travel to see them.  It is important to make your long and tortuous wait these past years count for something at least, NEVER GIVER UP!

Hello All,

This forum has been so helpful, thank you so much.

I filed Aug 2022, case has been updated to show fingerprints were taken in September and PF received as well.
I have not heard anything yet. Can I reach out to Congresswoman even though I did at the time before I switched my case to VAWA?
My attorney said I should not reach out as VAWA case is confidential.
Appreciate your response.

Hi, it hasn't been even a year. People wait for 3-4 years for WAVA and straightforward non-WAVA cases take 1.5-2 years nowadays. Your processing time is pretty normal. There's nothing to hear for many months.

Pending what Sandra or others here think, it may simply be a reflection of internal computer stuff that they're doing while processing the approval.  Remember that the letters in the word "fear" stand for "False Evidence Appearing Real."  Keep your spirits up. :)

Repeat aloud to yourself, with increasing conviction each time, "This is a big step toward what will be my full recovery."

The papers will take as long as they take.  When they finally pop, your feeling of relief will be incalculable.  Trust in this. :)

Asking congress/senator person for help is absolutely fine. There is no issue whether you have VAWA or not.   However, in your case is to very early to ask them for help.

It is taking 24 to 32 months. patience is the key.

Out of curiosity- for those who have traveled back to the US on Advanced Parole, what does the stamp on your passport say? Does it say how many days you’re allowed to be in the US like a regular tourist visa would’ve?

They usually allow for a year on the passport.

What happens if your status has not been adjudicated by the date listed on the Paroled stamp and you’re still in the country with a pending VAWA / pending I-485? Does that make you an overstayer ?
