So what was the response you got from congressman?

so the response from Congressman was the attachment of the copy of undelivered notice (which appeared to be prima facia notice). And this prima facia notice was also mailed to me couple weeks after the congressman's response. So USCIS reacted faster to the congressman's request rather than to my e-request))

In your previous post you said you received prima facie determination end of may 2022. Was it valid for 6 months for them to send another within the same year?

Wednesday means time for our highly hilarious and approval-evoking Semiofficial Semiweekly VAWA-Thread Joke:

==============================================

THE MUGGER AND THE BLOND FIGHTER

One night, a blond man walking home was set upon by a masked robber.  Although the victim wasn't exactly a martial-arts specialist, he immediately decided to fight back.

With arms flailing about, the two men engaged in a fierce battle and rolled around on the sidewalk in full view of passers-by, kicking and spitting and screaming in rage.

Despite putting up a tremendous fight, the blond victim was eventually overpowered and pinned down.  He raised in hands in tired defeat, and the robber wearily turned him around and searched his pockets for the treasure that he had defended so strongly.

The robber searched the man everywhere, but he found nothing more than a single quarter.

"Hey, man -- did you put up such a crazy fight just for THAT?" asked the robber, gasping for breath.

"You can't have it!" shouted the man.

"You're a crazy person -- get lost!" said the bewildered robber.

"Oh, you just want the quarter -- I thought you were after the $5,000 I've got in my shoe."

If you do not have a work permit/ AP, then you would want to get the I-360 work permit. In my day I had two (I-485 & I-360) the redundancy! Didn’t need two. Most important document is the approval notice. For next steps, your I-485 should be transferred to NBC, then you should get a deficiency notice for Medicals if it applies in your situation. Then interview invitation or straight up approval.
You can contact your rep.. I always advise folks to be proactively patient so the wait is not futile.😊👍

PS- see my brief timeline I posted not long ago.

thank you! And how would I know that my I-485 has been transferred to NBC? Is it a status online or I will get mail about it? Reason I am asking is that USCIS has my lawyers old address, so I don't want to miss the notice.

Also I didn't get an approval notice as it got delivered to my lawyers old address, I am able to retrieve the card itself only, is it sufficient? Thank you!

Typically it reflects online and then you get a mail to that effect as well. I know I did. So quick question….are you still retaining the services of the lawyer? If not, did you inform USCIS and update your address information? This probably is the underlying issue.

If you’re handling things by yourself at this time I’ll recommend you reach out to your representative so they can give you updates and help retrieve any document from USCIS pertaining to your case.👍

How do I fire the lawyer? I am not actively retaining their services since they are not doing anything much anymore after we filed but I think they are still my official representation. They have finally reached out to USCIS to get my card re-issued to their new address, but not the approval notice that is now lost I believe. So my question is - do I ask my lawyer to also retrieve the approval notice, or does it come along in the mail with the card? Thanks!!

Send USCIS a letter saying you want to withdraw your legal representation and that you intend to continue the petition without any legal representation and mail to VSC don’t forget to include your receipt number or better still a receipt notice with all that information.

And remember to indicate ATTN:G-28 on the address to Vermont.

It’s important that you have the approval notice. I’m sure USCIS will be able to furnish you with this document. You can request for it yourself after withdrawing your representative or go through your congressperson.🙏

Sometimes they tell you the case will undergo review or that you should hear in a month or two…and other vague stuffs but majority of the time, you get updates within a few days or weeks. The officer probably needs to check with a supervisor to authorize the formal approval. So yeah congratulations are in order!👍😊🎊🎉
