Vermont sends the file to NBC and the NBC ships to the local office.

Even for vawa? Someone previously said that all cases for vawa stay and get processed in Vermont, it never goes to a local office.

so since I’ve requested to do AOS by filing 485, they automatically send my approved petition to the NBC then to my local office? Or they ship it to the NBC then the local office AFTER filing the 485 form?

because I requested for AOS 485 on my vawa petition application, but I didnt submit form 485 after vawa approval, so I wanna know where my papers would be now, do they wait till 485 is filed to ship the approval the NBC then the local office, or do they ship it to the NBC right away after approval even before filing 485?

thank you for responding 🙏

Hello Family, It's been 8 months since my Vawa was approved. I received the letter in May 2022, which said VAWA was approved on 28 March 2022 after that, I got notification that case was transferred to NBC September 16 and recieved Deficiency notice on October 5th, 2022.

I haven't heard anything else yet. I tried to do an inquire through Senator yesterday but they said Vawa is taking about a year or so and it hasn't been long since the Vawa was approved, so they can not send an inquire yet. I spoke with my lawyer and he said we should send the medical in coming weeks?

Can anyone guide me, if it will be okay to send in the medical as the lawyer said, before getting any RFE or interview notice? or is that gonna be an issue.? any suggestion will really help.

2nd, I had Combo card approved in March 2022, I traveled for a month in April and came back in May, is it gonna be ok to travel again on Travel document in January 2023 or would that be an issue ?

Thank you

Hi @Aarontx90 I totally understand how you feel but I hope this helps..My VAWA was approved 28th March 2019, and i485 was moved in June 2019, July 2019 deficiency notice to bring to the interview, and then interview March 2020. Don’t pressure yourself so much, it’s definitely moving! Your day draws nigh!🙏

Hi everyone - hope everyone is doing well. I still haven't received my approved I-360 card. My lawyer sent the request to USCIS with a change of address (but they did that electronically which I know you cant do so I also mailed the form myself, no response). I am going to be contacting the congressman to resend me the card.

Anyways, my question is what is the I-360 card good for? I have my AP for 2 years but I was just trying to see how detrimental it is that I can't receive the I-360. Also, what are my next steps? Do I get some sort of notice online or mailed for next steps after I360 approval? Should I be checking the status of my I-485 held in abeyance for any news or is it going to be a different case number?

Thank you!

If you do not have a work permit/ AP, then you would want to get the I-360 work permit. In my day I had two (I-485 & I-360) the redundancy! Didn’t need two. Most important document is the approval notice. For next steps, your I-485 should be transferred to NBC, then you should get a deficiency notice for Medicals if it applies in your situation. Then interview invitation or straight up approval.
You can contact your rep.. I always advise folks to be proactively patient so the wait is not futile.😊👍

PS- see my brief timeline I posted not long ago.

I believe you can travel as long as it’s valid. I’ve never traveled on an AP before but I would only do short trips if it were me…like to be safe. No matter the total number of individual trips you make, be sure to get back before it expires!👍

ALL Vawa cases go to the local office, and most people have interview, but even without interview the petitions go to the NBC and then local office. They will send the case to the local office just if you submitted form I-485.

You said "because I requested for AOS 485 on my vawa petition application, but I didn't submit form 485 after vawa approval".I don't understand what you are saying.

When I first submitted the application form for the 360 petition, I choose that I want to do Adjustment of status by filing 485 in the United States, but I didn’t end up filing 485, I changed my adjustment of status to consular processing through immigration visa.

So I didn’t file 485, do they still send my approval to the NBC then the local office even if they didn’t receive the 485 form, or do Vermont keep the approval until 485 is filed then they send it to the NBC?

I just want to understand where my case is at now

Mmmmm! Interesting reactions and counter actions!!  I like your strategies and planning.  Personally myself, I have only contacted my Senator, made an online inquiry to USCIS, I don't plan to call their number or write any letters.

And like your case, l also received other letters by same address, infact the most latest one was EAD approval on August 2022. So how they couldn't deliver this time, remains a mystery!!! I also totally understand that Post office is overwhelmed right now because we're in a holiday season, but still......

I have been researching all over the thread's, on other sites such as immhelp...many other websites.  But still I couldn't find any straight answers. Let's just hope for the best.

Just a quick update on the issue with undelivered notice from USCIS... the congresswoman was able to get a response from USCIS on what was the undelivered notice. And also a few weeks later I received a mail with a copy of that undelivered notice based on my e-request.

So thank you everyone for the valuable advices (especially the one about reaching out to the congressman - it really works!!!)
