Hi guys.. I posted recently that my case has been approved on the website and that my card was being delivered by USPS. Well, now my card has been sent to the wrong address. It’s been rejected at that address too. It shows the wrong zip code too - I used to live in Miami but at different zip code. What do I do now? Where has it been sent? What are my next steps?

Update: it got delivered to my lawyers old office… as a reminder my lawyer was pretty bad so I’m not surprised they didn’t notify neither me nor the govt they moved.

still don’t know what to do next. How detrimental is this? I have another work authorization document for 2 years. How long will it take them to reissue this at a good address? How do I change the lawyers address to mine? I already gave USCIS my regular address but they still sent it to lawyers.

It is Sunday -- time for our Official Weekly VAWA-Thread Joke:

==============================================
A HOLY PARKING SPOT

A man drove to the local mall.  He drove around and around for 45 minutes, struggling to find a parking space.

"Lord," he prayed, "I can’t stand this.  If you open a space up for me, I swear I'll give up drinking and go to Mass every Sunday."

Suddenly, the clouds parted, and the sun shone on an empty parking spot.

Without hesitation, the man said, "Never mind -- found one!"

I returned to USA with my new GC first time!!

Went to home country. Immigration officer asked me how long I was there and what I did (to see family). And then, he noticed my GC category and wondered about it. He asked "out of curiosity, how did you get your green card?" or something like that. I told him it was based on violence against women act. I was thinking.. are they going to start asking me about the abuse?

He said okay and said that he didn't see that category very often.

I think he was genuinely wanting to know about the category because he hadn't seen it before. this is interesting because I'm thinking they would know from training...

anyone have such experience?

Wonderful!

In the exceptionally unlikely event that they ask, smile and say something like, "I'm so happy that all that is in the past and that I'm now a legal permanent resident.  In time, I hope to present you with a U.S. passport instead of a green card!"

Take him literally.  CBP agents can get bored with what they do, too.

I'm reminded of the almost-comical happenings when I brought Mrs. T-B. back across a land border with first use of her Advance Parole.

It has been returned to USCIS and if you do not request the card be forwarded to the new address, it will be destroyed and you will have to request another card.

Contact Congressman and ask for assistance.  FYI - only your attorney can change you address, they have to submit another G28 in order to do so.

This is a partial list of codes, meaning these are the codes that are currently issued (or at least technically can be issued pursuant to litigation).

Yeah it's pretty massive, don't expect anyone to memorize it all. He probably looked at it, saw IB6, definitely saw a bunch of IR6, but why the hell is it a B rather than R?

Strangest category code I've seen was "W4", which is apparently the ancient equivalent of what's considered F43 these days (child of sibling of US citizen, entered with immigrant visa). Dude was an LPR since 1965 and just never naturalized. Had to go digging through some really old stuff on USCIS.gov that probably is no longer there to figure that one out.

Here's the full list of current and past admission codes, if LPR that's the category that'd end up on their green card:

I have filed my Vawa in 2020 from NJ. I have to move due to work to another state. I have sent the application to update the address but never received a response from USCIS and address is not changed as i received my prima facie at the old address even after requesting the address change. What should I do. pleas suggest.

USCIS rarely updates the address.Contact your congressperson and ask him/her to inquire on your behalf and to confirm your address.
