hello everyone, i have a question, let me know if anyone has any idea. So, my vawa was approved like 45 days ago. today i received i-485 RFIE for i-693 Medical Examination. they want me to send it to national benefits center - MO address. Is this pretty routine or do i have a chance to get my green card  approved without an interview? thanks in advance.

It is a normal thing. Most likely they will waive your interview. Good luck.

Will it still go to field office for processing or NBC will adjudicate the green card and send?

It's the field office who always adjudicate the form l-485.

NBC works like a dispatcher office.

They verify if everything is correct, then send it to the proper office for final decision.

As they have asked for your medical already, your interview will mostly be waived. But the field office still have the final say.

It's already Sunday and therefore time for our breathlessly awaited Official Weekly VAWA-Thread Joke:

==============================================
THE FARMER AND THE PIG FOOD

A government agent approached a pig farmer and asked him what he fed his pigs.  The farmer answered, "Oh, the pigs?  I just feed them whatever scraps I have lying around."

The government agent sternly said, "Sir, that is animal cruelty!  I'll have to fine you $10,000."

The next day, another government agent approached the farmer and asked him what he fed his pigs.  The farmer replied, "Oh, the pigs?  Only the finest products, sir!  Caviar, artisanal cheeses, and hand-picked salads!"

The government agent sternly said, "Sir, that food is far too rich for them; they'll get sick!  I'll have to fine you $10,000."

The next day, another government agent approached the farmer and asked him what he fed his pigs.  The farmer answered, "Oh, the pigs?  I just give them $20 each and let them shop for themselves."

:P

Thank you @Pinkrlion but why would NBC request for medical to be send to them.. Wouldn't it be more efficient to send the medical directly to Field office?

I agree this process to be correct for I-130+I-485 but since I-360 have been approved. Wouldn't it be more efficient if there is no need an only medical is needed and if the file is complete they can directly approve I-485 and dispatch the green card?

Thank y'all for answering. I am just wondering about the process and I am also getting closer to decision on my I-360

MBC is the clearinghouse for petitions they all go there and your file is reviewed before being sent to the field office.

do we need to do anything about our current ssn after the green card is issue?

Yeah.

Contact or go to your nearest SSN office along with your green card + ID to get your ssn card updated.

They will send you a new SSN card.

The same process will be repeated once you become US CITIZEN.

Yeah.

They will update your status in their system as LPR and mail you a new SSN card.

But it will still be the same SSN number.
