It is Sunday, and time for our highly effective, always-hilarious Official Weekly VAWA-Thread Joke:

==============================================

THE MOST EXPENSIVE DOLL

One day a father left work, and on his way home he suddenly remembered that it was his little daughter's birthday.

He dashed over to a toy shop and asked the salesman, "How much for one of those Barbies in the display window?"

The salesman said, "Which one do you mean, sir?  We have Workout Barbie for $19.95, Shopping Barbie for $19.95, Beach Barbie for $19.95, Disco Barbie for $19.95, Ballerina Barbie for $19.95, Astronaut Barbie for $19.95, Skater Barbie for $19.95, and Divorced Barbie for $199.95."

The amazed father asked, "HOW much?!  Why is the divorced Barbie $199.95 and the others only $19.95?"

The salesman answered, "Sir, the other Barbies come only with an outfit.  Divorced Barbie comes with Ken's car, Ken's house, Ken's boat, Ken's furniture, Ken's computer, and one of Ken's best friends."

:P

Is there a thread something like “n400 vawa filers”? For those like us (vawa) who filed n400.

Others can correct me, but those posts are typically in this thread, if I recall.  They help to "close the loop" fully.  Everyone here enjoys reading about the crowning touch.

If the N-400 process is substantially different for VAWA people than for others (is it?), you might start such a thread in this forum.

If not, you're free to post them in this thread, or in the appropriate thread in the regular "US Citizenship Case Progress" subforum.

Hi,

Does anyone know the address to send the medical? A request was sent out, but it was returned because they haven't changed the address since January. Case was approved in February; congressman trying to get a copy, and nothing. Case was transferred, New York.

When was your case transferred to New  York? Most likely RFE was sent my local field office. But how do you know it was for medical? I would say wait until you receive RFE to see what they are requesting. involve senator as well

Hello VJ family, I sent i290B motion to reconsider to Chicago FOR my denied i485 and now I see there is a mail from NBC on the way from USPS notification. Does i290 receipt notice come from NBC? I’m not home, so I’m curious to understand if it’s normal that i290b receipt notice come from NBC LEES SUMMIT MISSOURI

Finally the day has come!!!

Guys i have my green in my hand. I never thought i would see this day. Finally a happy ending!!

The journey that started 6 years ago now comes to end.

There were many ups and downs. there were moments when i can see only darkness around myself. However, God has his own plans.

I have many people to thanks specially @sandranj @Demise  and everyone on this forum was really helpful and supportive.

One thing i would recommend is to have patience. Just take it easy as things comes.

Congratulations

As a Green card holder through VAWA, I will be eligible to file for naturalization on 05/02/2023. I am planning to do it through USCIS online portal. I have a couple of questions

1. I was filling out the form online, to have it ready, what is the qualification reason. As none of the reasons mentioned apply for a 3 year VAWA Rule

2. Are there any additional documents that I need to attach at the end? Like payslips / tax returns etc. As it says that any additional documents can speed up the case

appreciate if you can respond

Choose the option other and write 319(a).Submit copies of your tax return.

I have also a question for you if you don’t mind . My Vawa got approved and I also submitted my I-485 with I-765 exact day 52 days is saying on my app they received my file. I paid fee also for 485, (C-09) but I’m just wondering they didn’t submit advance parole (I-131) even though assistant asked me about it . I am scary to ask about it because whatever I asked they also asking about their cost to pay if I wished to submit  . Can I file it by myself without telling attorney . Because before my Vawa got approved , I sent evidence separately not telling anything to my attorney.( cuz when I asked what document they submitted for me ,  i checked some of my documents are missed ) I don’t know they do that purposely to get RFE because I got RFE as well that time .if I will file it , will something happens? Thank you for answer sorry for confusion question .

You should inform your attorney that you will file form l131.

I tried to search on this topic but couldn’t find much yet, wondering if anyone had experience with this…

Has anyone been battling child custody with abuser during divorce process but ALSO still waiting for i485 to be approved,? So that means no GC but in middle of child custody fight and ex trying to use the fact we have no status/GC in child custody court.

anyone have personal experience or links to info regarding this?

@sandraj

Vawa Law is protect by privacy law, that being said you can tell the judge you have “a petition pending with the Uscis”..If the judge asks a copy of the petition or what kind the petition you submitted then inform the judge your petition has a non disclosure provision therefore you can’t disclose about your case.If the judge continues insisting tell your attorney to ask the judge for a side-bar and he should inform the judge you are a victim of domestic violence and enforcement acts are prohibited at courthouses regarding VAWA self-petitioners.
