Forgot this field in form I-751

I just dropped off our I-751 package to USPS. I realized that I forgot to fill out this part of the form. On Part 8, I forgot to enter my name (the spouse) in the text box that starts with “I, ______________  understand the purpose of a USCIS ASC appointment…” but I did sign and date it. Part 7 was filled correctly by my wife. Is this enough to cause a rejection? Should I call USPS to cancel the delivery if possible?

@clang890 yes that is absolutely enough to get your case denied. Cancel the delivery if possible so you don't lose the filing fee.

Okay thanks for the quick response. I submitted a package intercept from USPS and it should hold the package at the local post office now. I’ll contact them tomorrow to follow through.

We did the exact same thing. No issues. Approved 10 months later with no interview. they must have filled in the names. We dated and signed too.

I'm very relieved to hear that. I was also thinking that they could just fill in the name since it was signed and dated. It could also vary based on the USCIS officer handling the application so for now, I've requested USPS to intercept the package and try to fix it myself. In case that doesn't work out, I'll also gather a second package to send and wait for any letter.

Not quite. If anything, they will reject the package. If so, they will send it back, OP will fill that question and re-send. Technically not a denial.

That would be fine also because the package didn't get intercepted from USPS and it got delivered to USCIS PO Box.

Now, I'm left with three choices.

  • Wait for USCIS to process the package and assume they won't mind that missing field like it was done for poster above
  • Wait for USCIS to process the package and receive the rejected package so I could fill that missing field & re-send
  • Wait couple of weeks for USCIS to process the package and if there's no response by then, just send a second package preemptively

Either way you will have to wait. I would give it a month or two before I start worrying. Nothing to do for now.

Yeah pretty much. I can only afford to wait 4 weeks at most because the card expires November 5th which is only 45 days. Made the other mistake by not submitting it sooner.

I made a similar mistake on my initial I-129f (K1) where I accidently left out my husband's name on one part. They just filled it in for me, as another poster mentioned.

If the signature was missing, I think it would be a different story. But I feel like the USCIS employee would have to be quite petty to reject the I-751 based on just the missing name in OP's case.

Let us know how it goes @clang890

We got the NOA today!! No rejection, USPS package intercept failed so no money was charged, didn't need to resend another package.

I think I made the same mistake and just sent mine last week. Please let me know if you get any response. I am think of re-sending the whole package.

We just got our NOA today and it's been extended for 24 months! They must've filled in my name or something. Took about 1 week for them to cash in the check and 4 days later, NOA came through.

Thank you. I got my NOA Saturday. It seems they filled mine too. Now waiting for the next step.
