Proccessing for my step-son

Hi,

I have a question for getting my step-son here. I married his mother as she was a visa-overstay from Peru, and I am a USC. I have filed the paperwork for her Change of Status, and have gotten notices of receipts. I also filed seperately for her son that is still in Peru at 13 years old. We have also recieved receipt notice for him. His notice and in the website is saying it is taking between 990-999 days for proccessing. Is there not a faster way to have him proccessed. This seems like a very long time and especially with the families act of 2000. I do not understand why it is saying 3 years with the fact that I am a USC and the immigration department saying it is wanting to reunite families and that he should not need to wait for a VISA number. Also, one question, will I need to be present for his embassy interview? It is very difficult for me to obtain time away from work on a short notice. I filed I-130 and accompanying paperwork. Should I consider the I-129f? My wife has called immigration a few times and gets differing answers, so I just don't know what to do.

I wouldn't panic about the 999 days

they put that on every I-30 reciept ( to cover their a$$es)

take a look at the timelines for 1-30's at the service center where

you filed it will give you a better indication of the time frame

Well, I sent it to Texas at first and found it was forwarded to a center in California due to the return address, but I can not find the specific center of the city on the return address. Also, my wifes I-130 said from 30-120 days, so, yes, I did panic a little when I saw three years for her sons I-130

I also filed for my stepson along with my husband. For the I-129F he was included with my husband's application. HOWEVER I did need to file a separate I-130 for him because he would be getting his own visa. The I-130 route took faster (although we were delayed a month because stupid me forgot to include his birth certificate with the forms - make sure you include it !!). But basically we began filing in August 2005 and their inteview is scheduled for May 2nd 2006 in London.

Okay, yea, I am just putting myself in his shoes is where the lack of patience comes from. He has not seen his mother for two years. They talk on the phone regularly and do video chat. It's just I couldn't imagine, in a good family relationship, of course, being away from a parent that long. So I will wait and be patient as you said. It is just hard to make it understandable in a 13 year old mind. However I think he has more patience about it then me.

LOL well yea.. what 13 year doesnt love being separated from his parents?? LOL

Seriously, its got to be harder on her than on him but I meant have patience in the fact that the time will go much faster than it seems like it will.
