Hi all, we filed for ROC in July 2020 and the extension letter expired as of sept 1,2022. We called to get an appointment for the 551 stamp and received an email a few days ago saying there are no appointments in the nearby field offices. How long does it typically take for an appointment? We live in the Bay Area and are willing to travel to anywhere to get the stamp as we need to travel in December. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

My wife just had her Infopass appointment just yesterday and the process was smooth. We are in Miami, Florida.

We called this past Tuesday and got a call back on Thursday for a next day appointment (Friday). I was very surprised at how quickly we got the appointment.

Perhaps next time you call you can tell them you are willing to travel wherever there is an appointment. Traveling from the West coast to Miami is a long trip, but you would have to think there are offices closer than Miami that have appointments.

Good luck!

Is that actually possible to tell them we can go to any field office? They just emailed us on the 30th day instead of a call back to say there are no appointments in the nearby offices

Nothing prevents you from calling USCIS again and asking for a tier 2 officer to call you to discuss your urgent need for an I-551 due to pending travel and your flexibility to go to any field office.
