The Rome Consulate office STILL has not logged in Hicham's file!!!! It was sent from Casa on June 13th. I've sent an email with the Diplomatic Pouch # trying to verify that it's actually arrived in Rome...but I'm not getting any answers.

I'm soooooooooo depressed about this because they are reporting processing times of 6-9 months once the file is received and logged in. After keeping us in AR for over a year and the fact that we've now been going through this dayum process for 3 1/2 f$#^ing years now!!!!!!

I'm REALLY at my wits end with this whole f%$^ing system.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

i am really sorry for what's happening for you and your husband. I hope that it gets resolved very soon.

I was wondering why your file went to Rome? (Maybe I missed something on your timeline but I just wondered why it would go to Rome??)

I wish good news comes your way soon!!!

It is my understanding that 601 waivers have to go to Rome for final processing. The interview is done at the SO's consulate in his country, but the Rome office is like the "central processing plant" for 601s.

His file has gone from Charlotte, NC to Vermont, NH, to Casablanca, Morocco and now to Rome. It will take another 4 weeks AFTER they make their decision, IF inshallah they approve it, to travel BACK to Casa for him to get his Visa.

The bad thing is that his passport expires in April of 2007. He has a Palestinian passport which is not easily renewed because of all the turmoil right now.

Oh hon I am sooo sorry!!!!!

You know I hate to say this because I know it's difficult but is there ANY way you can relocate to be with him until this dang thing is over? I know you said you make a good salary where you are now but maybe even get him to be able to meet you in a third country to live temporarily and find a similar position abroad?

I'm just trying to think of ways for him to be able to be with the baby right now. :(

Oh Wow!, I had no clue Rome was the place for 601 waivers. It looks as if your petition has been everywhere.

Hopefully that your petition is there in Rome and just hasnt been entered into the system yet. Hopefully, he can renew his passport. I'm sure there is an alternative for ppl who need to renew their passports.

We can't relocate because that's the whole basis of the 601...that if he isn't granted a waiver to re-enter, it would prove extreme hardship. So...we've had to wait it out. We are in a Catch 22 situation with this. :(

But not only that, I'm the only child in a very small family. I'm the only person left to take care of my great aunt and grandmother and neither are in good health. Once they are no longer with me on this earth, I've told Hicham I have no more ties to living here in America. But he's adamant that if we have to relocate, he doesn't want us living in the Middle East.

Thanks so much for your hopes and prayers. :)

We've been apart for such a long time now that it's really getting to both of us. We talk every Sunday online (it's free) and now that our son has started talking and is talking to Hicham, it's killing him.

I just miss my husband soooooooooo very much. :(:crying:
