This is why the dentist's office is popularly known as The House of Pain. :P

I once went with my husband to his UK dentist,...  they came at him with something that looked like this but big and old fashioned like it had survive a world war. It was huge!

And I thought to myself what sort of torturous horrors was their dentistry? The numbing didn't take either, so they kept jabbing him again and again. That being said he had braces so everything is straight. My dentist has complained about his bad UK fillings though, and has had to fix some of them. I have seen many with bad teeth and many with horror stories. It's not the public's fault really. They're either too terrified, can't afford it, or there's a shortage of good dentists.

Yeah, my husband just got his Invisaligns off and WOW what a difference. I never thought he had very crooked teeth but now looking at the progression pics, I realize: love is blind.

His mouth is full of terrible fillings, and I am sure I mentioned his adventures in dentistry over the past couple of years getting things fixed at last. He has lost a tooth -- literally crumbled away when he was eating... I can't remember. A taco? Definitely NOT something you'd expect a tooth to break over. One extraction and the Invisalign later, there are still several fillings to address, and the whole matter of the implant.

NHS dentists are thin on the ground, and there are massive waiting lists, so a lot of people go without or go with what they can afford. My ex comes from money and his perfectly straight, cavity-free teeth are testament to that. My husband lost his dad when he was very young and grew up without a lot -- his teeth reflect that. Also the junk diet he ate growing up did not help.

I guess I failed at keeping up to the standard of my own request to keep it on topic!

The Queen had braces as a child, apparently. https://www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/queen-explains-how-perfected-royal-21542900
