Yeah it seems like it's a done deal. We have to hope that the State Department doesn't lag on this, and the Russian backlog doesn't build up any more than it already has. I'm hoping that this will be a blessing in disguise. The Polish consulate has been overloaded, and it seems like they were fully booked out for months and months.

There aren't many consulates nearby that are big enough to handle the increase in caseload. I'm hoping the Almaty Consulate takes over. It's big, easy to get to from Moscow, and doesn't have much of a backlog right now.

This is the glaringly obvious choice. No doubt Kazakhstan also has Russian speaking staff on hand.

Definitely, but when has the government ever done anything logical? There's a chance the Australia consulate takes over.😂

Someone should phone the Bureau of Consular Affairs with these pressing questions.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

There is a lot of internal EU politics involved, I doubt anything will happen until there is some sort of definitive call.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

Is there any precedent for having a group request? Like, let's say I managed to round up people who have filed I129f or I130, to send to all the senators that represent them to try to get the DoS to action this?

It seems like it took ages to get Poland designated, now it's going to go even longer if they change again.

Ironically, our case is ready for interview at the Warsaw embassy. My Russian fiancé got his instructions (Packet 3 I suppose?) emailed today. Surprisingly, it only took 10 days from NVC sending our case to Warsaw to receiving instructions, which is VERY fast. I've read stories about people waiting on their instructions for 2 months.

Very. Bad. Timing.

Everything has started going so smoothly and now we probably won't be able to attend his interview in Warsaw. Why do they keep sending out instructions? How are we supposed to get to an interview they are inviting us to?

This is a challenging situation, most definitely.

I would have thought that US would welcome Russian nationals with open arms (re: President Biden's 4/28/2022 letter to welcome Russians with STEM degrees) through designating a more welcoming site for them to get visas at; I was proven wrong.

Thus, I do not believe that DOS would pick another consulate to take over the caseload.

Gentlemen, we're facing a situation where two worlds have chosen to bet everything to prove their way of life is correct. And, sadly, we're merely dust in the grind of world politics.

I would hope for the best (through talking to every single US embassy in the world) while preparing for the worst (that it would take quite longer to be with our chosen ones).

P.S. That said - Russian telegram groups are already advising arriving into a different Schengen country and coming to Poland from there due to lack of passport control.

Is anyone aware about passport control between EU countries on land? I mean car, buses, trains, etc. We were of course planning on going to another country first, information about Poland accepting Russians directly from their flight was conflicting, so we decided not to take our chances. My fiancé is applying for a Hungarian visa next week and our plan was Hungary-Czech Republic-Poland. I wonder if anyone would check his visa if we just drive from Czech Republic to Poland?
